Let's go!

I was thinking about doing it a little at a time when I had time off. But, I need some time on my cruiser to make sure it is reliable and I need to start getting some recovery equipment. I'm hoping to start driving the cruiser tomorrow. We will see.

I want to build one of these based loosely off of a UDS, plus a pipe on top...

Do you have trouble with your fruit trees freezing?

via mobile app.

Ian and the powerNation (formerly powerblock) have a new show called xtreme offroad on CBS Sports Network and the first episode was this weekend and I just finished watching it and immediately thought of Eric. First build of the new show... A ROCK BOUNCER! I am sure it is on the interwebs and I bet you'd know some of the folks they interviewed.

what's a rock bouncer?
LOL!
is the show online? I wanna see it!

I just went to the new powernationtv web-site and it doesn't look like it is up on-line yet to view.

That show's been on Spike TV Saturday mornings for years. I DVR it. They've done some cool tube chassis stuff, as well as some cool mod builds, SAS, all sorts of neat stuff.

They did a "2 garage crawler" that you could build in a 2 car garage with nothing but a welder and grinder as "specialty tools." Kinda cool.

Edit: Just noticed you said XTreme Offroad... different show same guy?

Ian? yes. That shows over. He's doing a new one.

Speeder... I have been meaning to ask you for a long time if you know Ian. Really sharp dude, (for a canuck). If you see him at an event, ask him what his aversion to toyotas is about.. My guess is that a yota doesn't give him enough crap parts that need improvement to build a show around. I have watched him do just about everything possible to a jeep to make it wheelable but only about three yota projects and they were all mini trucks.
Jus curious.

I met/see him at events, yes. He comes to some of the events in the area. Jessie was the yota person on the show originally. She used to own an FJ60 and even came to a couple TLCA events. Even came up to me at a GSMTR asking if I had two-toned my 80... Cattywampus.

Toyotas do break on the trail. The real reason yotas become so trail worthy was their cheap-fix... the mini trucks that is. Most folks really don't wheel a cruiser like we do here. We are a very rare breed. Those of us that actually wheel them. I rarely see a cruiser wheeling in the wild, compared to hundreds of jeeps.
mini trucks ARE the yotas out on the trail. What yota are you thinking out of curiosity?

Ahh, Jesse Combs. What a perfect example of who I want my boys to bring home to meet their parents.
Always thought Ian had the skills and knowledge to do a killer cruiser without going full on buggy style. Probably just wouldn't appeal to the larger audience needed for a syndicated show. Most people watching his shows are looking for the latest bolt on hop up for their XJ, YJ, TJ, LMNOP-J because since the cj there hasn't been any steel in a jeep that a stiff breeze wouldn't bend.
Between Ian and Stacy David it seems like somebody on a Saturday mottorhead show would have jumped on the opportunity to build a cruiser of some model. Disappointed I guess.

Not enough of an audience.
Jessie DID do an FJ60 on the show. hers.

But like I said, no one really wheels a whole lotta cruisers. folks on mud do to some extent. But very few compared to the masses out on the trail. A butt-load of mini trucks compared to cruisers.

com'on! come to the events!

I met Ryan from TRUCKS once or twice. Wheeled with him at Windrock about 4 years ago and he had a sweet Laredo/Cherokee with custom bumpers, sliders and linkage - all done by him. He's a friend of a friend of a friend of ACC. I asked him about getting one of their shows out to GMP for our first GSMTR there. He said that Ian had been there once before on the show (maybe the season before) and wasn't likely to go back for the show.

Then last August I heard he was on the trails at GMP in his own buggy. We were there for OTMT, but I never saw him. Last time I saw Ian on TV he was up at Rausch Creek covering the ECQ for KOH.

Toyota is as represented on the shows as it is in the trails.
I'm willing to bet that most people here would not be driving these money pits if it didn't have the "cool factor" of rarely being any on the road.
There just aren't that many cruisers out there. It's blown me the frick away at how many are in bham. I joked last year that I'm beginning to think they're made here. I see at least one everytime I go to the summit.

The ones that you see at the summit and around mountain brook are all one owner mom wagons that have shuffled two generations of rug rats to school since they were new. If you can pick one up from there the interior will be thrashed and all four corners will be dented but never been off the pavement. That zip code has tons of these things stil rolling as DDs.
