Talked to Matthew this afternoon about CB stuff and sent him a complete list of piece parts I've got in mine, and thought it might be of interest to other DLC folks:

For around $100 you're in to about the best bang for the buck CB setup around, in my opinion. The whip on the antenna is $10 to replace in the event you trash it out on the trail somewhere. This is almost exactly (slightly different bracket) the same setup I run in my truck, and I have been really happy with it.

did you run it on the street? how did it do? how did the mileage compare to using gas?

I rarely ran it on the street. It was mostly a trailer queen. But when I did it did fine. I never calculated mileage so i don't have numbers but there didn't seem to be any real difference in time that a tank would last. Power wise some people will say that you lose HP but the octane rating is on average 110. I felt like my HP went up that is by using my seat of the pants meter. I also advanced my timing to take advantage of the more stable fuel which helped the HP curve. Now I can't remember if the price of propane was a little cheaper or not but I do remember that there was not a big difference in price between propane and gas. When it comes to simplicity you can't beat it. There is one moving part in the converter and two in the carb and you can take both apart with just a flat head screwdriver. Now with all that said I wouldn't convert my DD to run on propane. A DOT approved tank can get pricey then finding a station that can fill it up would be hard and the forklift tanks that everyone uses are not DOT approved and if you pull up at a hardware store or the like and they see you unhook it from your car they probably will not fill it. I used to have problems with one by my house that would give me a hard time about filling it cause they couldn't imagine that I was going through that much propane on a forklift.
