If she got on mud often she would probably have a ring on her finger. I am safe.

via mobile app.

So.... I guess she got a mud account?

:clap::clap:;p;p:clap::clap:

Wow how far back did you have to go for that one?

I have an unnatural ability to remember useless information, like that statement.

Sent via carrier pigeons to a computer near you using the ih8mud app.

Well I predict roughly 18 months after the wedding you are going to wake up and she is going to way less cool.

J/k mine is still cool but some one said that to me so Ithought iI would pass it along.

Congrats....
Wedding going to be in a underground shelter?
I'll be there if invited with no electronic devices..

But for real... this is a thing now. "Unplugged" weddings. I love the idea. Way too many people looking at their phones instagramming weddings these days.

Don't want me on FB at your wedding? Don't invite.
Phones out Hoods Out!

”Excuse me stewardess, I speak Clarence”

I took it as he will be there a long a he gets a paper invitation in the mail. Ie, not an evite.

sumbitch you good!

Yes. This. I'd echo that photographer's sentiments precisely.

maybe because youre a photographer... but I never have been. I don't like capturing pictures as "art", but I do like art, but I think geeking out over anything is over the top. While I'd agree that not everyone with a $1000 camera is a "photographer", the opposite can also be said...
It's modern day, let whoever do whatever.
There's some beef going on in the offroad community as to "who was first" or "who does better" or "who should be allowed to film/take photos".... I'm not sure if you've been to BestBuy lately... but cameras can be gotten by everyone and for any occasion. It's just part of "now", and even on everyone's phone.... so we gotta deal with it.

I agree that the gear doesn't make the person a professional, and I've taken shots with my iPhone that you'd never guess weren't taken with a DSLR. The oven doesn't cook the food, the cook does.

If it's just a public event, nobody has been hired by the person holding the event, and the rules of the event allow still photography and video, meh. Quityerbitchin and differentiate your product by being a better photographer or videographer.

If, however, say Tim Cameron has hired Mad Ram to film a feature on his truck, and the amateurs are getting in the way, then I'd say Mad Ram has every right to tell them to GTFO so he can do the job he's been hired to do.

My beef comes when as a professional I've been contracted by someone to capture an event that is never going to happen again. The person hiring me is not a photographer, and does not think of things like people obscuring the shot, ruining my light, or occupying the space I need to be in to get a shot. When they get the final product, they don't give a flying #*!&%@ what the reasons are for not having that perfect shot of the first kiss, or the bouquet toss, or any other fleeting moment.

I'm confident in my ability to get those shots, always shoot with a second shooter, always cover multiple angles, and have yet to have a dissatisfied client. So, it can be done. However, when a couple goes so far as to have an "unplugged" wedding, it makes the photographer's life loads easier.

It's less about anything "art" and more about getting the job done that you've been hired to do.

No doubt some of the things you do is badass. You is an artist no question.

At this stage in the game, you want a private photo shoot, make it private. Asking the guests of a wedding to keep it in their pants is like asking kids to do the same in school... it ain't never going to happen. Ever. a losing battle when everyone has a camera in their pocket now.
Google glass will change the world. again. Because everyone will have a camera over their eye. It will be the next "ah ha" and that's a fact. We will never go backwards.

(Caveat here, I don't know the arrangements photographers and videographers have with the events)

I'd also add, if there is not someone contracted and being paid to cover an event with video or stills, if someone bitches about what they're shooting, I think that's total BS. If it's allowed and you're out to get stellar shots, do the work it takes to get the shot. Period. If you get there hours early, scout your shoot, find your location, sit there, and then someone shows up and tries to elbow you out, you got every right to tell them that you got there to shoot from that spot.

However, if someone has been contracted to shoot, and you're there, got your spot, everything as above, and that professional comes and says they need to get where you are to get their shot, you move. Be polite, and they might let you in if they've gotten the big shot.

The same thing happens at BMP for races. I've scouted my spot in the woods and had other fellow amateurs try and stand in front of me. I tell them nicely that I got there at 7AM and scouted my spot, and they need to find another place to shoot.

If one of the guys shows up in a fluorescent yellow press vest and asks to shoot there, I let the guy do his job.

Yep, all the above is legit for sure.
Same with any event. You the same level as the person, then it's first come first serve. fo sho. But pros, if they are paid, get the spot...

Nah, I agree. The genie has left the bottle. I'm confident I can cover it with or without guests doing their thing. No big deal.

I'd just be thrilled if a couple I shot actually did "unplugged." It'd be amazing to not have to shoot around ipads and the like. To that point, really, REALLY. A friggin IPAD at a WEDDING? Screw what I want, what about the person behind you who can't see past you now? Just poor taste in general I think.

Being nice also goes a long way. In general if I tell a relative, "Hey, I need to step in there and get a couple shots. Mind if I do that for a few seconds," they oblige. It only goes south if the photographer is an entitled dick and acts like he owns the place, which I've seen.

More people shooting more photos is cool to me. It's humbling to see what people with no prior experience can produce, and it makes me want to push myself to do something better. It's my competitive streak I guess, but I think everyone doing it well, and more people doing it, moves the whole medium forward.

Pros that bitch about "but everyone's a photographer now." GTFO. It's like being in a pool and saying it's too crowded. You're part of the problem, and you can get out just like anyone else. Nut up or shut up.

Anyway... not that I get riled up and excited about talking photography... back to your originally scheduled thread :p
