Are there commonly found distributors for streamlights? I'd like to be able to play with one in my hands to see what they're likeI lost both of my AA Maglites( :mad3: ) this year and need to find a replacement.

I absolutely loved my maglites and had had one of them since I was 12. I found them to be indestructable, surviving unknown numbers of drops, immersion, etc and 2 AA batteries are easy to find anywhere. I also never really had a problem with battery life, they always seemed to last a fair amount of time for me. I may just get another one(or 2 :D ), but I thought I'd do a little research before hand.

We use the Streamlight Vulcan in all the pumps in the OFS (Ottawa Fire Service). The recharger is mounted inside the truck and the hand light can be quickly removed to put onto our SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) waist belts when we go into a fire. Very bright, lite and easy to carry.

I have yet to see one completely fail under adverse conditions (heat, water, rough treatment, neglect and abuse...). But, I have had to take apart the lense assembly to replace the halogen bulb which has become unplugged from it's socket on several occassions. A task which is impossible to do with fire gloves, an axe in your hand, thick smoke and hot fire coming down on ya. But, it does make a nice marraca sound when you shake it around! ;p
