Dizzam! Glad everyone is okay.
That's not the first pic of a 80 I have seen in a head on collision. It's impressive how intact the passenger compartment is. Wonder how the 100's compare to the 80's because I can see the 80 being one of the safest trucks out there.

Still waiting on the other person's insurance to pay out. What would you say would be a fair price for them to offer? Just curious!!!

With mods, i'd shoot for 8-9, seen ones with no mods and in horrible shape be totalled out for
more than that in 80's tech.
You should swap two stock 3rd members in there and rip the locked ones out before they take it.
No one will know. We did a similar thing on my buddies rubicon back home when it was totalled

If you can get cash + keep the Cruiser for less than $500ish or something I would do that, and then yank and sell (or use yourself with new 80) the lift springs, 3rd members, tires, etc?

Usually they will just give you a price, ask them what the offer would be if you keep the truck and they will usually just subtract the scrap / auction value, which won't be much.

Ditto on this...I need a couple parts :)..not to mention you would make way more money that way.

They made me an offer of 5500.00 and I could keep for 500.00

I told them that I would take 9,000 and I would keep the salvage, haven't heard back from them on that one yet.

They are probably pretty close. If they met you half way I would jump on it in a heart beat. Hell I almost would even if they decided not to budge after considerations. I mean you can part that thing out for quite a bit not to mention having to buy some of the stuff you did for it over again on the new rig at retail adds a significant chunk. Think about about the lockers and your $2500 dollar lift? But they did lowball you a tad little bit. Not like they are just going to give away free money. They'll work with you. It is easier for them that way.

wow, im gladeveryone is ok, amazing.
hate to be "that guy" but can i get your rear diff... haha

Time to start rebuild!!!

Please let me know if you know where I may be able to source some or all of my parts from.

Thanks,

Opinions!!!

After looking under the cruiser really good today I see that the frame is bent all the way back over the front axle. I was just planning on it being a trail rig but is it even worth it since the frame is bent up that bad?

I wouldn't want to drive it on the street but depending on just how bad it is I'd rock it as a trail rig.

Without seeing the frame, measurements, or alignment numbers I can't comment on the drive-ability, but I drove a 4Runner with front end frame damage for 14 years. The biggest problem is that it pulled slightly to the left, couldn't be properly aligned, and chewed through tires. I didn't have any issues driving it.

I would at least give it a go with a frame shop, at least a quote, to see if they could improve it. You might just make it back up in tire life.
