You mean the one I posted up in post #31 ;)

In an older post he also had an ARB front bumper but he must have sold that one.

I bought it from him... planned on using it on my 62.. then realized the approach angle on the old Arbs is alot lower than the new ones. I started a really long thread with a ton of pics in the 60 section about it and then ended up selling for what I bought it for to John Roberts in the upstate cruisers....

Still waiting.

But did pull up some prices last night from the dealer and it was not looking too good.

Kinda high if you know what i mean.

Went to the frame shop that was recommended. No Go. They only deal with unibody cars. Gave me a number of a shop down in SC that they think could fix it. NO. I am just going to pull the frame and put a good one under this thing. Not going to play reindeer games with these people. They were not even sure if afterward it would not eat up tires. And for what they were telling me it is just easier to do my own frame work and get a nicely preped frame under this thing.

So now onto finding a good donor truck.

By the way. Some good info for someone hopefully.

My insurance company told me they will do full coverage on my 1975 FJ40. So all my vehicles here soon will have full coverage. I am not playing anymore, let them do all the fighting for me.

For longevity and doing it "once", I think going with a fresh frame seems wise to me. I'm no expert and I can only assume what a pain it will be to find a donor, yet, the end result will be nice.

I'm thinking the same on my 45 but that's another story...

For me i think it will be better. I like to do it once and right the first time.

This thing will be a pain but atleast i have the shop and the knowledge to do it in.

And i have found a few nice ones down south of us, just waiting on the frame reports from the owners. Guess i will have to part out the truck after i take everything i want off of it.

Need advice on what i should do here. Got a preliminary estimate today that seems very reasonable , but he is missing a few items, like the power sterring pump, or the frame work that would need to be done.

If you want to know the price PM me off line and i will tell you, just do not want it out in the open yet.

I'm not knowledgeable enough to help with price. What I would say is...and I know you know it, I'll say it anyway...your time is valuable but you won't get compensated for it during this process. My "value" time quadruples every minute I have to be on hold, nuff said.

I'd go back at them for the items, if they don't go, take the money and start the tear-down/build-up plan. I guess its that I hate to dicker (I guess I shouldn't say that out loud), particularly with this type of transaction (is that politically correct enough?).

But, if you have the time and inclination, I'm sure you'd be able to get a "fair" settlement. I have a friend who makes it a game, I'm just too old and grumpy...

Jerry, going to send you a PM.

This just in.

There was another bad accident there at the intersection. But this one made the news. Here is a link to it.

Hoke Co. school bus hits car :: WRAL.com

I actually drove thru here just a bit after it happened. It happened the same way it did for me.

This morning NCDOT was out there changing out the light pattern. It had to take a school bus accident to make them do there job that numerous people had told them needed to be done.

Glad you are ok!!! My son's friend totaled her car at the same intersection last year - and he starts driving this year:eek:

With all the troops back and FORSCOM coming, it will only get worse. I've been here 8 years traffice has gotten pretty bad on this side of town.

If it makes you feel any better...I feel your pain!

Mike Good to hear from you. Need to stop by the new place one day. Got a little room now.

And yes that intersection scares me now. I have been all over the place as you well know and have never felt like this while driving. As i was coming home tonight there was a person sitting there and decided the red light was too long so went right in front of me again, just this time about hit a truck coming from opposite of Walmart. We wish the store would of been built somewhere else now.

Were you still looking for a frame shop? My dad used one up in Stoneville and he did an incredible job! But if you want perfect, a new frame (and/or body) is the way to go for sure.

Sam, Still trying to find a good frame / front body. One day soon i hope.

So has the insurance company settled on any sort of price for you yet? Just curious I am about to finish my studying in the insurance school at Appalachian and am planning on doing something in the claims field and believe me I wouldn't try to rip you off like these guys. If you have any questions about any of it feel free to ask, the insurance info is still fresh in my head.

And are you still looking for another cruiser or are you still keeping busy with the repair work of your 60?

Richard, Yes they finally did settle. And not too shabby if i do not say so myself. I am not going to say the final on here for the truck but if anyone wants to know i will PM it to you. Blew my mind.

My son heard a huge wreck while walking the dogs tonight. We walked up to the corner of wayside rd and 401. The was a car turned over and a woman stuck inside - hope everyone is ok.

This road has turned into Raeford Raceway...I'm gonna be a nervous wreck when my son starts driving in January.

I dread driving it everyday. I deliver mail on the other end in downtown Nam.

Something arrived today.....
