The 11 good years i had with my 60 before this happened.

As long as it is possible i am going to rebuild her. But i also think she is going back down in height and going to run about 33's.

Also, i am on the lookout again for either a nice 62 or an 80.

Darin, looks and sounds like a pretty intense few seconds. Glad you OK though.

Well, the good thing is you've got the fleet to choose from to drive. I'd hold out as long as possible. I'm sure they have a timeline they like to close those cases up in, so if they go over the timeframe it looks bad on the performance.

Where's Juan when we have insurance questions? :)

Thanks for the heads up Marshall. Least the carb from you is still good. Just got this thing back on the road from a blown HG also a few weeks ago.

Deirdre and I are also very sorry for the loss. We know how a car becomes part of the family. We are just glad that you are both O.K. It could have been a lot worse.

Agree just hold out. You'll be able to rebuild her better than ever and put some money aside for new tools in the shop.

Darin, like others have said, I'm glad first and foremost that you're ok. Definitely sorry about the Cruiser, but trucks can be rebuilt a lot easier than lives. Take care of yourself, heal up, and we'll see ya soon.

Sad part is my wife was right behind me when this one happened. Then yesterday on her way home from work there was another one at the exact same place and the exact same thing happened again. They really need to fix that intersection.

Here is a link to a '62 on Craigslist in Raleigh I just saw posted.

Glad you are okay. Sounds like they need to position an officer out there until the problem is resolved. I'd think the newspaper or local TV station needs to publicize this to light a fire under the government department that needs to fix it. Suggest you make some calls.

1988 Toyota Land Cruisers FJ62

There you go Darin everything you need. Two fj62, OME suspension, roof rack 4.56 gears, two 3fe's to make a 2fe from your 2f. And a ton of parts left over, and we know how much you like parts ;)

Speaking of this we are having a lawyer friend draft up something to take to the local council for this very intersection. It needs to be fixed. Talked to my local UPS guy i have known for years now and they have briefed them to slow down to about 35 at that intersection now, so i think i am going to enlist their help also.

WOW, glad you were in a cruiser, l'll keep my eyes open for ya around atlanta...might want to buz 3-pits, dont know how often he is on mud.

A little update on the other people.

They had bruising from the air bags and one had a fractured arm. Spent almost 12 hours in the ER for that. As i said before or maybe not, i headed for the front of the vehicle and took out the passenger front wheel and engine compartment. If you seen the size of these ladies its a wonder they fit in their car.

As most of you know the size of my 60. For those not sure she had 4 inch lift springs, shackle reversal and was running 35inch tires. I am now trying to figure how my truck dipped so far as to have the body of their 2002 Pontiac car take out the front of my truck above the bumper. My wife did say that the rear tires came a good way off the ground just prior to impact and then i looked like a Pogo stick on Roids. The skid marks even show the Pogo type bounces on the road. Guess she really did not want to go over.

Anyone have a guess about NADA for this thing ? I looked on their site but not reaaly too clear. It was not a DD but was in really good condition minus the seats and carpet.

darin, what year was it? i'll try to help you out

It is a 1987. Last year of the 60 model.

Thanks for any and all help from anyone on here.

And thanks for you all thought also. Means alot. Think i am going to go ahead and put her in the barn under a good cover after i drain the full tank of new gas that i got 3 minutes prior to this happeneing and the radiator and take the tires off and put some small ones on her. Take the 35's and put them under the 40 for around here and drive her for a bit.

But i am on a serious look out for a nice 80 series, so please point any out that you come across. Lockers not so much as i already have one with them but would like it to be about a 95 / 96 year.

nada info

1987 Toyota Land Cruiser 4 Door Utility 4X4
Original MSRP: $17,196
Low retail = $3,700
This vehicle would be in mechanically functional condition, needing only minor reconditioning. The exterior paint, trim, and interior would show normal wear, needing only minor reconditioning. May also be a deteriorated restoration or a very poor amateur restoration.

Average retail= $7,250
This vehicle would be in good condition overall. It could be an older restoration or a well-maintained original vehicle. Completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out.

High retail= $14,450
This vehicle would be in excellent condition overall. It could be a completely restored or an extremely well maintained original vehicle showing very minimal wear. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are not in need of reconditioning. The interior would be in excellent condition.

Darin, once you figure out where to classify the 60, you could then, look through your work and recepits to show where you put areas over the top so to say, and then push to insurrance company to consider them in the value when trying to determine the replacement cost they will always tray to low ball you with the interest of their share holders in mind of course.

if the other driver is a fault, their insurrance should provide you with a rental car since your vehicle is out of commission. until it is repaired or replaced.

I was thinking this one should been atleast average if not a bit higher than that. Only problem was the seats and carpet having stains that would not come out. It was not my DD either.

Problem with my stuff is its all home made, so no real reciepts except for maybe materials.

Wife also accidently told me something today.

Said passenger in car had pissed her pants :hillbilly::hillbilly::hillbilly::hillbilly:

Darin, this is just my point of view but, if you logged or can resonably quantify your time, to fabricate parts and have recepits showing materials purchased, you should be able create a recepit based on average wages for that type of work in in the industry. the recepit dosen't have to have some fancy logo on it. it is just a document classifing materials and work. just because you did the work dosen't mean it dosen't have value. it might be a little harder to classify, but if your figures are based on what a shop like slee, or ironpig would charge to fabricate something simular then it shouldn't be a problem.

that said.... for example: you are saying your vehicle was in average condition. then recepits showing where you replaced all the u joints wouldn't count for anything, but the differance or additional cost of upgrading to a higher quality / custom u-joint might increase the value as that would have been above the base line of average. again what you are looking for is replacement cost of your vehicle in the condition it was in, not what you can pick up a used 1987 fj-60 for (which is what the insurrance company will strongy suggest).
