I found this guy in my tire on the way home from Idaho Springs, I'm thankful my tire didn't go boom. I have a new one on order through discount tire, so glad i had road hazard insurance.

Leftovers from someone's multitool. Kudos on the road hazard, that tire isn't cheap and looks like it has plenty of tread life too.

How do you rate the Ridge Grapplers compared to other tires you have had?
Noise, handling on highway and off-road performance?
I now have the Trail Grapplers and do like them. I was wondering if the Ridge Grapplers would perform almost as well but be a bit quieter on road.
The Trail Grapplers are not too noisy, but I can hear them, not a s bad as I expected. I moved to them from BFG KO2.

It can be scary the crap found on the roads.

I too get road hazard form Discount Tire.

Heads up... If tread of all tires are worm more than 1/32 or 2/32" they may say you need a full set (4 tires). Due to issues with transfer case and handling safety concerns.

This has happen to me and my son:
They will prorate the one tire and charge for a other 3. Don't agree to that. You paid for hazard on all tires so all are covered. Fight for what is right!

I apologize for hi-jacking the thread onto tire evaluations.

I should re-consider hazard insurance myself.
Good luck with Discount Tire. It will be informative to see how they respond.

The Ridge Grappler effectively sits between the Terra Grappler and Mud Grappler. It's basically a more aggressive AT tire that can handle a little more mud than the Terra Grappler, but not as much as the Mud Grappler. It's going to be a little noisier because of the more aggressive compound (I'd guesstimate similar to the KO2). The TG is perfect for occasional off-road with mostly on-road.

I went from TG to KO2 and actually find the KO2 better both on and offroad. It's only marginally noisier on the highway. The only reason I switched was because I got a large screw thru the outer tread block and it was unrepairable (construction is rampant around Austin, so screws, nails, metal flashing, tools, debris, etc are prevalent). I had no road hazard, so elected to replace all 4 tires at Discount Tire and purchase the road hazard.

I ended up switching from the Wrangler Duratracs once i got my lift installed. The Ridge Grapplers are much quieter than the DTs and have been great offroad. The RGs were installed late April and didn't see much snow after the install. I'm looking forward to this winter season and hope they hold up just as good as my DTs did in the snow, I will keep you posted.

If i didn't have road hazard ins, the price of the tire would have been $305.

Was the tire leaking? It looks to only be in the outer most of the tire.

It was not, the truck sat overnight and most of the day before i had the chance to drive it over to discount. I had asked discount tire if I could have the tire for a spare and they said no. I guess they send these out for some type of inspection.

I see road hazard as a scam, unless the tire was leaking and not repairable it was still good.
The only non repairable leaks on a tire are leaks in the sidewall because the sidewall flexes as you drive and plugs and patches will not hold.

I bought road hazard twice, got a flat, went back, they said the tire was not repairable and made me buy all new tires and a slightly discounted price.
The 2nd time I didn't have the money for all new tires, so I said I'll be back after I get paid, took that tire elsewhere, they fixed it and away I went for another 30,000 miles.
I have not bought road hazard since.
That is just my experience. Your results may vary.

Ive had great luck with Discount Tire road hazard so far... gotten two tires replaced and all it cost was the disposal fee and cost of a remount, ~$36 per tire for replacement is a whole lot better than ~$240.

If that tire was not leaking I would have pulled the hazard out and kept driving it.
