used for a very short time, would not clear the front drive shaft. comes with the pan, mounting hardware, filter extension and a new filter. $85 shipped. they cost $120 new plus shipping. this one's in perfect shape, no defects, cracks, major scratches or other blemishes..... holds an extra 2 quarts of fluid and provides more cooling due to the finned design. also incorporates a drain plug.

located in stockton CA.

any idea if I would have the same trouble with DS clearance on my shortbed mini? I am interested and would take it if you could measure the depth so I can see if it would trouble my set up.

i guess that all depends on what t-case setup you're running. if you have a doubler in there then you should be ok. the pan is 3.5" tall overall.

I am running a single t-case with drop ins.....I'll measure today and let you know asap. I am pretty sure I'll take it as I have a leaking hole for a temp guage in my pan : ( and I am not confident it can easily be repaired, plus you pan is an upgrade. Stay tuned..

whenever you have to drill a hole in a stock stamped steel pan to install a temp sensor or a drain plug, it's a good idea to braze the female fitting in. they have a bad tendancy to leak.

buy yourself an x-mas present!

very interested in it... I'm having trouble keeping my TH350 cool unless I have my torque converter locked up (even with a big ass tranny cooler) on bigger hills. I'll do some measuring tonight to make sure it'll fit but I am very very interested.

righton. this will definetly help. what cooler are you running?

flex-a-ite... sorry I didnt get out to check last night (company christmas party) and had a few too many to check when I got home. I'll check tonight. If someone beats me to the punch thats fine... but I'm still very interested!

ot:

if you guys are having problems with the transmissions getting too hot, then let me know what your setup looks like and we'll try to figure it out.

i always try to run a radiator with a cooler built in and then run the fluid thru a secondary auxillary cooler. that should be more than enough to keep them cool.
the type of aux cooler you run also makes a huge difference. the "tube and fin" coolers plain SUCK! if you have one of those on your rig, then ditch it in favor of a "twisted tube" style low pressure drop cooler. if you're not sure what i'm talking about, then post a pic of what you have and i'll try to help you out.

brokenpart, you'll have dibs for a few days......

in-efficient junk!

what you want is something like this:

B&M 70266 - B&M Hi-Tek Trans Coolers - JEGS

they're built by a company called hayden/trucool and then sold thru a bunch of vendors. they come in lots of different sizes and thicknesses. you'll want something rated from 18000-25000 lbs. i have some at the shop if you want one......

I got that same cooler, just haven't got around to putting it in yet.

I don't know if synthetic ATF will run cooler, but it will hold up to the hotter temps better. Mobil 1 synthetic ATF seems to be very good stuff, and can be found in most auto stores.

i'm not a big fan of synthetic ATF. i have yet to see a single auto trans fail due to fluid failure. it just does'nt happen.
the extra cost of the synthetics and it's inability to be blended with regular ATF ( you can do so in an emergency but it's definetly not recommended) make it un-attractive to me. sure it holds up better to higher temps but that does'nt mean that the o-rings, lip seals, sealing rings and other "soft parts" in the transmission won't be affected by the extra heat. synthetics are a bandaid at best. the only way to cure the problem is to keep the transmission cool in the first place. this can easily be achieved by running the correct stall speed torque converter and a proper cooler.

alright, who wants this thing!

yup, front driveline clearance is always a pita with fj40s, 45s and 55s when you're running an auto.
