text messages

my buddy has a 2013 4Runner, he can get he's text messages through the screen on he's rig, he's 4Runner we'll even read he's messages to him as they come in etc... I can't figure out why mine won't work?(the "message" button is not active) I have an Iphone 4s, everything else on the phone works great... I realize it's not a huge deal, but just kinda wondering if this option is working for others on the 200?

It works on mine.

When a text msg comes in, it reads it to me and offers a few possible responses like, "On my way," I'm driving now, will reply later," etc.

I don't remember having to set up anything special to make it work.

It worked with my iPhone 4 and now with my iPhone 5S.

well atleast now I know it's suppose to work, I looked in my phone under settings for text messages, not a lot of settings that would or could affect this in there, I'll try one of the other Iphones in the family and see if that works or not... My buddy's 4Runner also gets email through the phone area as well...

I have 4s and messaging was not working ..... he'll I did not even know it was an option.

Anyway, deleted the phone from the nav unit and paired it again and voila, messages work. Note that if you go this way, you'll have to recreate your speed dial list on the nav unit

I have a 2013 and the system does read the email too. I just turned on my bluetooth and it found the car media system.

I believe it's just for the 2013, but not sure! I just relinked my phone with the car and now the text messaging works, pretty cool, it reads it to ya as you are driving down the street, I just feel a notch better about the 70k price that is why I love this forum, a couple more years and I'm gonna know how to work this car, thanks for the info guys
