My 04 LC has a Telescoping steering wheel that's going. It retracts when I turn the vehicle off, but it does not come out to it's memory position when I start the car. Every time I turn it on I have to pull the steering wheel out. Motor is working fine, just not moving out on start up.

Anyone else experience this, or was able to fix this? I'm hoping I can just reset something.

What's the dealer cost for a fix?

I had mine turned off at my local Toyota dealer at no cost. I can still manually move it, but it doesn't telescope on its own any more. GL

First symptom of failing motor and/or excessive stiction in the worm drive. You might be able to buy a bit more time by cleaning and re lubricating the worm shaft and its grommet, easy enough to do, and white lithium grease seems to work. Last time a checked a new motor could be had for around $220, I guess a dealer would charge maybe $400, should be a standard price book estimate so I'm sure your dealer could give you a number over the phone. Tilt and telescope motors are pretty straight forward items to replace and there are a few good threads on the topic. Turning the auto tilt/telescope function on/off is done through TechStream, not to be confused with failing/intermittent operation of the motors which is very common.

Great feedback, thanks for the info!

I have an 04 as well, mine starting doing the exact same thing every once in a while and then got worse and worse until it just stopped lowering and telescoping, then the next day or so my battery starting to go. Put a new interstate battery in and all is working fine now.
