That's what I thought you meant. What are the odds of two batteries having the same issue? I can't be that lucky.

i worked at autozone and hated the duralast batteries, i always use everlast from walmart and have never had one single problem with them.
of course if you want a really good battery go with the really expensive optima's.

I have a few Optimas. Red, Yellow, and Blue. You better have luck on your side when you buy one. The quality control has gone way down hill since when they first started making them. My last blue one lasted 14 months. I had a red one last 7 months. I am not the only one to experience Optima problems. I doubt I will buy another one.
Someone's quote:
Quote:
"...When the Swedes owned optima, they paid us well and quality was foremost of all at all cost. JCI is the company that KILLED optima batteries, we always had 99.99 pure lead until JCI bought optima. The first thing they did was: fired all of the on staff scientists, then fired all of the PHD's, then fired the chemists, then dismantled the chemistry lab, then dismantled the prototype lab, then got rid of the pure lead and replaced it with lead with higher tin content, then JCI brought in their genius engineers and re formulated the lead acid paste, then replaced the AGM paper with lower grade paper, ex cetera, ex cetera. All of this was done within the first 2 years of their ownership! We had to fight like hell to prove that what we had when they purchased us was superior to what they had done.
we finally convinced them to begin returning to some of the successful methods Gates had originally designed, but only after making them think that it was their idea. When the U.S. plant shut down, we were using pure lead, similar to original paper and similar paste formula, however, there were many, many other changes they had made in the manufacturing process that negatively affected the optima but produced higher volumes. In my opinion, the Enersys Odyssey is, by far, the very best battery on the market today. I am aware of some of the mfg practices being used specifically on the optima in mexico, and they are not conducive to quality!" end quote.
I just looked at my red top and it says it is manufactured in CO( too lazy to take it out and look all around the battery) but I am pretty sure they make them in Mexico now.
they may be a good battery but a three times the price of a std battery kinda hard to justify
alt will not cause a terminal to corrode but it could be in need of replacement.Autozone reader said alternator was problem
Volunteer,
I think that you had mentioned that you or someone else was running a Holly carb on your F/2F engine. I was just curious as to what model number the carb was and what the flow rate is. I was also curious as to where you had purchased the intake manifold adapter.
Thanks,
Cruzersoul
Its the Holley 500 kit sold by Downey. I heard alot of people bash the carb in the past and my first choice wouldn't be that kit. I'd go with a good factory core to send off to Jim or Mark, 2nd would be a Weber 32/38. I can't bash this Holley though it runs perfect. Haven't wheeled it yet. I put a kit in it when I got it the seals and accelerator pump had rotted from sitting up and was leaking. I didn't have to fight any tuning issues. I did the points conversion on it and it only ran better.![]()
