Center Diff in a 96 will lock but not unlock. The relay box tests good, the actuator tests good, the wires test good. Dash light works when locked, no flashing. I can put power to the kick panel connector and operate the diff.

This truck has a 4WD button, so I can test the CDL in tcase neutral... still no unlock.

I've swapped the Relay and actuator just to be sure, no improvement.

Suggestions?

Yes I can wire in a manual switch, that's how my personal rig is setup. That's not ideal for our drivers though. I'd have to explain it over and over!

Have you solve this problem ?
I'm about to give up
Relay , actuator and wires are also good
I think that I will make separate switch just for unlocking or make completely this completely manual cable conversion

Have you tried unplugging the button and using just the tcase shifter. Make sure you're getting it all the way into high range.

I did.
I couldn't disengage with shifter first and then I bought a dash switch but I couldn't unlock either.
The only way I can unlock transfer case is with 9v battery connected to actuator wire terminal 2 and 3

I had a similar issue and it ended up being the shift boot under the console. I could shift it, but wasnt allowing full throw of the shifter, and it wasnt consistant. Always was more "moody" when it was cold...

If you have it unplugged to unlock with the 9v, does it lock back up on its own when you plug it back in? Just taking a stab.... something simple

Thank You.
I will remove console tmrw to check that boot

Yes. When I plug it back in I can lock TC by pressing switch or move shifter to L4 so it looks like actuator working only one way
