Purchased a new H55 tranny and prepping for change out. Has anyone tried installing higher gear ratio TC gears? Thought I would consider these since I have TC apart for H55 conversion.

Marks4WD has a set of gears with a higher high (8% overdrive) coupled with a lower low (2.82 to 1 ratio) to fit your transfer. They also have a new style idler shaft with tapered roller bearings that they claim reduce gear noise.

rick_d is installing these in his cruiser, we should soon hear first hand report on his experience.

My early style Marks gears are indeed noisy in an open top 40, but Greg_B's early gears in his BJ60 didn't sound half as bad.

Does anyone know when Marks changed to the tapered roller bearings?

I buy my Marks gears ( underdrive ) last year .. ( april for my birthday :D ) and are very noisy no matter what .. but aren't nothing special, no more that MT tires sound.
