Hey all,
Thought I'd post a pic of my upper radiator hose set up.

On my TBI engine I used a mid 80s water neck off a van since it had the larger sensor hole. I used the AA adapter to fit the stock LC temp sender (the TBI intake manifold has the CTS sensor). Then I used a 90 degree 1 1/2 inch hose and modified the old LC lower hose elbow to turn the corner around the alternator.
Then I used a 12 inch 1 1/2 flex hose to get to the upper outlet on the radiator.

I found a hose that more or less made a straight shot over the accessory bracket to the radiator, but I would have had to do some grinding on the acc. bracket and would have been REALLY close to the fan. I thought the "around the corner" method would avoid any potential issues of the hose rubbing on the engine.

How's your truck running so far?

Nice looking engine bay there! This is how my TBI setup came out.

what make and model did your 350 come out of?
It looks like you don't have the same accessory bracket that i do. It also looks like your motor is mounted lower than mine. I hope I didnt set mine too high!
Are you using the AA (Marks) adapter to your H55?

Its not running yet!
Its almost there.....famous last words!

thats a reasonable solution. I think you might find a way to adapt the top part of a GM truck shroud to you radiator...and you then might be able to run a one piec hose direct to the water neck.

I had a 91 GM pickup with 5.7 TBI... I swapped the shroud over from a 99 GM pickup with 5.7 which allowed me to run a larger radiator without an real modification. As I recall, the top of the TBI truck shroud has a coverage to keep the radiator hose from gettign into the fan.

I like the simplicity of the TBI engine....not the strongest engine, but will run many miles and has few problems and is simple to fix. I could not find one in time for my engine swap and went with the vortec.

I would keep a watch on your cooling setup to make sure you have no issues.

Mine is the AA adapter to the H55. The engine came out of a 1995 K1500 truck.

As for the motor height, I am planning on going to a 700r4, but ran into problems that my engine is too high, since I had clearance issues trying to get the 700r4/toybox/splitcase in. That is next on my list to do, if I don't sell the 60.
Maybe a body lift will help with that issue.

yes a body lift will clear the 700r4, toybox, splitcase very well. or external shifters for toybox are an option.. come by and look :)

The radiator hose from a '68 GTO with a 400 is pretty much an exact fit for your application, but wht you did looks like it will certainly work. Check out www.tbichips.com if you want some inspiration about the potential of a TBI motor.

Thanks!
I'll keep that in mind if I change it out. I put my engine really high partly because I wanted as much clearance between the oil pan and front diff. as I could get.
I put some clay on the top of the shroud and when I shut the hood, I had VERY little clearance, so I thought the hose might get squished, or rub against the vibrating engine if I ran it through the acc. bracket.
Hopefully my set up will work, but if not, I can deal with it then.

I'm just hoping it fires up OK.

If anyone lives in the North SF Bay Area and has some time next week to lend a hand on the "big day" for start up let me know.

Bryan
