For those of you that are running a TBI on your 2F i have a question regarding the ecm/eprom.
a) Are you running the GM factory chip?
b) Are you running a chip that you reprogrammed?
c) Are you running an aftermarket programmed chip?
d) Are you running an aftermarket ECM?

Thank you,

Hi All:

No disrespect intended, but I think you need to spend some time using the "search" function here on MUD. A lot has been written in regards to using the factory Toyota multi-point fuel injection system from the 3F-E engine on a 2F.

I have heard in the past of folks trying to use GM 4.3 Litre V-6 FI parts on 2Fs but from my understanding the 3F-E parts are an easy bolt-up.

Good luck!

Alan

Well to start you must have a 3fe head or a late production 86-87 2F head with the extra bolt holes for the 3FE intake.....this is the deal breaker for most as these heads are prone to cracking and bring a premium if you can locate one.
You will often pay more for this head than the TBI GM system can be pieced together for.......
GM TBI once you know the system can be diagnosed and repaired with simple tools on the trail, no expensive OEM Toyota parts to carry for spares.....

Alan,
I have been researching this project for several years, and slowly aquiring the pieces. I have the Throttle Body and made an adapter plate I have a GM ECM, I have done the searches here on mud and am now looking to poll the popular opinion on the control system.
I like the flexibility the GM TBI offers, and like Texican said the GM system is simple.
Thank you,
Gavin

Gavin, while any of your "pole" choices are available/do'able, after months of farting around with all kinds of programming choices when developing our EFI conversion, the thing that worked better than any other choices or programming was a bone stock 4.3 ECU with a bone stock chip/prom---Gee, I wonder why??? In fact, we also found that the auto tranny chip works better than the stick chip on your stick 2F--go figure.

just did the conversion and using stock gm computer and eprom. works pretty well.

Badass,
I have been following your thread looks good. Did you sort out the throttle pedal issue?
Gavin

If you are technically inclined I would suggest going with a Megasquirt 2 as it allows for a lot of flexability.

YEs i solved the gas pedal, issue i had to build all custom s***. custom bracket, mount, cable, pedal. everything. I'm not gonna bag on downeys pedal conversion, but i would not buy it. Jim and i decided the reason the pedal was SO STIFF was becasue the cable's length was to short. i will post how i built that on the thread build up soon.:bounce:
