As discussed at the meeting last week, on Saturday April 16, 2016 we are planning a trail ride/workday on the Tasker's Gap trail in GW-Jeff NF just outside Edinburg, VA.

The weather will be sunny, dry with temps in the 60's. Great weather to get the family outdoors for the day. Post up if you can make it.

I will coordinate pick-up of the signs with Wade (Forest Technician). This is a great chance to do a shakedown run for the Moab crew.

I'm out!?!? :-(
That's opening day for my youngest daughters softball.

Let's meet at 9am I'm pretty sure we will be putting up signs so we'll need a posthole digger, a spade and a tamper/pry bar. bring loppers and heavy gloves.

Let me know what tools you have and I'll arrange for the rest (it's good to have 2 of each).

Slight change in plans. The signs were put up last weekend by the WATR group so we are going to have a very light day refreshing and putting up new blazes on a nearby 4 mile trail with some short side branches. We will have to double back to get out so it's an 8 mile + drive on the trail. Bring your gloves and loppers and one spade. The paint tends to get on everything so wear an old shirt. That's all we'll probably need.

I will meet Wade at the Signal Knob trailhead parking lot between 8-9am to pick-up the paint. You and I can arrange to meet at a nearby crossroads or filling station around 9am so we aren't trying to rendezvous on the mountain where there is no cell coverage unless you know the way into the Signal Knob parking lot. If you have a club radio, bring it. I will bring a spare handheld if you don't.

I did a dry run today since it's fairly close to me.
I plan on taking the backway through Elizabeth Furnace which will drop me on the backside of the mountain, close to the Taskers Gap parking.

I have a club radio I will bring.

Post up later and we'll figure out where to meet

Let's meet at the Edinburg Gap parking lot at 9am. If you have a pitch fork, bring it. We have some culverts to clear out.

I'll be on channel 1.

That's okay, you can sing out of tune. See you in the am at Edinburg Gap parking lot

Neal and I represented CLCC on the Tasker's Gap work crew. Not much quantity, but wagon loads of quality.

We cleaned out about 6 culverts and refreshed blazes on the 4 mile Edinburg Gap ATV Trail main stem and ATV off shoots. This trail is 4 miles in and 4 miles out and is located down the mountain on the east side about 2-3 miles from the Edinburg Gap Parking area. As always, USFS was very appreciative of our help.

Please note that only one Forest Tech maintains these trails in the Lee District so if not for groups like is volunteering, most of these trails could not be maintained and as a result would be closed to the public. It's important that we pitch-in if we want to keep enjoying these trails, as wheelers, ATV'ers, mountain bikers, hikers, birdwatchers, or sorry pieces of dung just looking for an excuse to avoid the honey-do list on a beautiful spring weekend day (not you Neal).
