I decided to upgrade the audio system in my '87 by installing a small powered subwoofer under the passenger seat. Blaupunkt makes a 24v unit so I don't need to fuss with a separate voltage converter. However, this product is only available in Germany. I ordered it directly from a German supplier in Cologne for 140 euros + 20 euros UPS shipping...not too bad.
However, UPS emailed me that I owe $55 in tariffs. Indeed, in order to take delivery yesterday I had to write a check to the UPS man for $55.
Just wanted to give a heads up to the community that these tax increases are live. I'm about to install the subwoofer this afternoon. Hopefully it's worth it!
