Nutnfancy just a plate bolted to the factory mechanism, my biggest hurdle was trying to fit a square peg in a non-square hole. The first three attempts I tried to make a perfectly square door and adjust the screw holes up/down and side to side to get the door to open and close without hitting the lower dash and align straight when closed and after several days of failed attempts I had to put all forms of measuring tools down and eye ball it, not one square edge and hole spacing is all over the map but it fits, go figure.

HA… Yeaaaaaaaaah…….. That’s a really good question that my wife keeps asking too. I tell her I’m a professional janitor and I just travel around with my cart and clean up other peoples messes but she didn’t like that title so I’m working on a new one now.
Currently my business cards say “Professional Pig Accessory Fashion Designer” although I work long hours with no pay so by definition I’m a hobbyist but I had “Professional” printed on the cards to impress the unknowing.

That Dodad is an Innovate Motorsports Digital MTX Series Air/Fuel Ratio gauge. I’ll use it in conjunction with an EGT and boost gauge to tune the diesel, this is an important number to know but no need to monitor so I hid it in the glove box and I will plug my laptop into it and data log during tuning and ignore it the rest of the time. I would have just temporary mounted it and plugged it into the wideband sensor when I needed but the sensor needs power when the engine is running and this was faster and easier than crawling under the pig to remove the sensor.

Finished painting the dash, I still need to work on the glove box door alignment but I’ll deal with that when I install it for the final time.
I ordered harness tape ten days ago and it’s still held up at UPS in a storm so wiring is on hold till next week.

LOL, that’s the exact look I wasn't going for, I like the look of the old school individual gauges but it got a bit cluttered with everything I needed, if I had to do it again I would have bought one of the Auto Meter LCD dashes and been done. http://www.autometer.com/lcd.html

plates transferred over to you soon!Working on my AC vents and running into some issues. I’m only running one floor vent and I have a total of six vents in the dash, four heat/AC vents in the upper/lower dash, I’m using the two outside vents as defrost vents for the side windows and they will tie in the with the existing three defrost vents in the stock dash. The Restomod heat/AC unit has eight ports, four for defrost/floor and four heat/AC so two Y’s are needed to hookup in my configuration the first problem is the Y’s available are 2.5” with 2” adaptors making them unreasonably large. Looking around the shop for alternatives I discovered that 1.5” ABS has the correct OD for the 2” AC flex line so a quick trip to Home Depot and I found some fittings that may work, if you look at the photo you’ll see that I cut most of the swage off leaving just a small flange to act like a barb and hold the flex line, I’ll fiddle with it some more today to see it will work but it looked like it has potential last night.
Second issue is the length and OD of the factory defrost vents, they need to be trimmed up and shrunk down and working around all the wiring and other mounted accessories is limiting my options on power tools, last night I was able to trim one of the vents with some tinsnips and fit the street 90 on the inside to attach the flex line but it will need more work still, I’ll try to get some photos once I come up with something that looks like a viable option.
If I were smart I would have addressed all this before this stage in my build knowing how little space is under the 55 dash and how much crap I’m trying to cram in there. Hope this helps the next guy..

...None the less, build is top notch. To be honest im going to be having a lot of the same accessories as you and its interesting to see how your tackling them.

My original intent was to try to make something "factory'ish" and that is why I built my first dash with Kydex to see if I liked the look of a “flat custom/Hot Rod” dash VS the “factory” look. Honestly I probably spent more time flip flopping back and forth between factory and Hot Rod on this dash than any other single item on this build and at the end of the day function beat out form and I did my best to make it look like it belonged.
My issue started from needing nine gauges and not finding something like the speed hut units that offered everything I wanted so I was always going to have to mix and match with some sort of gauge pod to get everything, Auto Meter Pro Comp was the closest to having everything in single gauges I wanted but they are big and fitting them was difficult, I spent about three weeks looking into the LCD race dashes but they looked a little too modern and didn’t fit the “Hot Rod” or “factory” look I was after so I went back to the Pro Comp gauges with the exception of the AF gauge and spent three weeks trying to make it all fit. Like I said before if I had to do it over I would have used a LCD dash and spent less time worrying about looks and more time driving this pig.

Admittedly not an eloquent solution but a solution nonetheless.
Top left shows the parts made from Home Depot 1.5” ABS fittings, I cut the bell and glued a 1/8” section back on the pipe to form a barb to prevent the flex line from slipping off.
Top right shows the 1” orifice I glued into the Y’s to restrict the flow going to the side window vents.
Middle picture shows the two Y’s or technically one Y and one T attached to the 90’s and how they orientate under the dash. Because of space constraints this combination of fittings may not be the best for proper air flow but they will fit and get air were I need it.
Bottom picture shows how the 90’s fit inside the hacked up factory defroster vents, I still need to dissemble everything to wrap the wiring harness and I will clean up the vents then. The 90’s will also get some self-tapping screws to secure them to the factory vents on final assembly.
