Seems like daily I’m discovering parts I need for wiring this pig, the guys at Wire Care have been a huge help dealing with my questions and helping me find the correct parts. FYI they have and are able to get stuff that’s not listed on their site.

If you are trying to find anything resembling original (not sure you are) look up @Coolerman here on MUD.

Thanks Pablo,

If the stock harness didn’t suck so bad I would have tried to retro fit it to work with my current configuration but it was the source of much of my past issues so it had to go.

Electrically nothing factory remains so I’m using all Deutsch connectors with new modern wire, fuse block, switches, LED lights and relays. Originally my plan was to keep the interior mostly factory appearing and reuse the switches and some other iconic 55 items but that dream quickly went to the wayside when I realized how little room I had to work with and trying to incorporate 40 year old parts was probably a bad idea. So the dash will be a modern monstrosity of gauges, switches and AC vents mixed with a mostly stock appearing 55 interior.

And cup holders.

And Cup Holders! :) love it

LOL, I think if the hardcore guys would walk a week in Delancy and my shoes trying to accessorize our blinkers and cup holders they would realize how trying to find the perfect rock for their poser shot is really quite a bit less time consuming and they should give us a bit more respect.

That is an epic quote!

Thanks Ron,

Depends on the welds, if I can get everything welded and smoothed out well enough I will send it out and have it hard anodized, if not I'll Cerakote it graphite black

Star wars on steroids

man oh man!!!! kid's got skilllllllzzzzzz!

Thank you!

I’ve been side tracked with getting the suspension figured out for 35” tires trying to confirm I’m not overlooking something before I weld up the front bump stops.

Shocks and bumps look like they will work up front, I need to change the fittings on the reservoir and make some spacers for the bottom mount but other than that I believe I’m good to go.

Mounted the tires and removed most of the rear leaves to check for clearance, close but no rubbing. I think when I build the FF rear I’ll make it ¾” per side wider for a safety margin but I have some time to kick the idea around.

Bump stop mounts are welded and the lower dash is close, the big welder s*** the bed and we had to finish up with the pea shooter but I think it will be OK with a little more fluff and buff.

Now I can get back to wiring and mounting gauges..:bang:

Love that lower dash and the 35s look amazing in the wheel wells. Love watching your rig develop and getting ideas for parts and ways of doing things that would never even enter my mind. Keep up the good work!

Perhaps a bit premature, but any thoughts to the top of the dash? Fit the dash pad somehow or leave off.

Factory dash pad, I rebuilt it awhile ago and I'm not sure if I like the texture so I may use the plastic cap.
I checked it for fit before welding and may need to trim the bottom now that I added some material to the side wings :meh: I check tomorrow and let you know.

Beautiful it is. Wow I applaude your work it is stellar.
Thanks, don't know if I deserve "stellar" but I'm having a good time cobbling parts together!

The dash pad fits with a little trimming.

I need to make another glove box door, my ruler and I had a disagreement and I drilled the holes in the wrong spot.

Hope to take everything apart and start painting tomorrow, with all the welding on the lower dash I decided not to chance anodizing.

I installed the cap from Cruiser Corps this weekend in my '79, really nice quality and fits great ;)

Tucker

Thanks Tucker, I think that the one I have came from Cruiser Corps.
Fit is good but it still looks like a dash cap and I don't have a good reason for not liking it so for now I'm sticking with it until my OCD kicks back in and I'll deal with it then.
