After reading online and on this forum I'm about to push the button on a set of Cooper Discoverer S/T 285/75R16's for my 1994 FZJ80. It has an OME 2.5" lift.

Going to have them siped.

What I want out of them is a little bit more road manners, especially on snow packed and icy pavement, over the 245/75R16 Kelly Safari MSR's on there now. I don't have any hard core plans to go rock crawling, will primarily be running old abandoned logging roads and some hill climbing. I want the spare to fit nicely in the stock spot underneath.

I just put a set on my wifes 100. Haven't had them in ice, but they are awesome on the road and performed very well in sand without airing down. That's all I've done so far as they've only been on since September. They seem stout too, guy at the shop said I should get 70k on them if not more. He regularly sees 1t heavy duties get 50k on them easily. Bottom line is you shouldn't be disappointed.

I'm on my second set. I think they work great in the snow/ice, much better than my old school BFG mudders or AT's. I'd imagine they'd be even better sipped. They wear excellent.

I went for it. They look great! Pics when there is daylight.

I ruled out the duratracs because the only retailer I found for them here is sears and they have done bad things to tires for friends and family twice in the last year. I could have ordered them but decided not to.

I have the exact same tire, siped, on my hundy and they ROCK! I have not had any problems with them chunking due to the siping. Plus, we see snow and ice every winter and I NEVER have to worry about the wife taking the hundy out. Fact is, that is what she always takes when we are expecting snow... like tonight. Go for it. Those tires are great.

You see a ton of them in Montana.

I have plenty of friends who run them up there year round and they are fine.

No substitute for a dedicated snow tire though.
