"....a sweet little TR4A just waiting for the
final touches that I know you would look "smashing" (in the best
of British way) driving - just the sort of red sports car every couple look good in!

Well, even at the right price - I'm thinking $0 - I'm wondering whether this may be too expensive. I can drive a TR4 exactly 21 miles up and down the Denali Highway. That is, I might, and occasionally do, drive my '06 TDI onto the gravel portion of our famous road, but the Triumph will have even less clearance than that, so I could responsibly stick only to that small amount - 21 miles - of pavement. Besides, it's from the early '60s....so that leaves me all dressed down (it's a convertible, of course) and no place to go.

Also, I know exactly what that famous "final touches" clause means....

And, of course, it's 4,000 miles away on the left coast...

Anyone want to trade for a Troopy? How about some blinker fluid?....spark plugs for my 3B?....a decal?.....

My dad still has the TR4 he bought in 1965. It's made several cross country trips and spend several years touring Europe. He rarely drives it anymore and I think my mom would like to have the extra space in the garage for more of her stuff. Every time I make it home the battery is always dead or some other ailment that keeps it from running. If you do get it, plan on having a mechanic versed on British electrics live with you. I could think of few things I'd rather not do than drive it in Alaska in the Winter. Cheers!

Yaaah - Lord Lucas the Prince of Darkness certainly holds those Triumphs in thrall. On the other hand....who cares about light in our Alaska summers?!?!?!?!

Should I talk to your Mom....when your Dad's not around?

Best we keep it. I've seen projects like these tear families apart. As long as he's satisfied it's not running, she's satisfied not pouring any money into it. Nothing like a broken down Triumph to keep the family together. I'll probably have to dump my girlfriend if I ever acquire it.

I would love another TR4! Where and when?

Where's the TR4???

Ahem.
umm....

Must be my location. When I look....down....from here on the lesser-48...

...the "left coast" is the other coast. You know - the one closest to England.

Maybe I should have used other terminololology.

Anyway, I'm off to the East Coast to pick up my new F350, which Ford will have finished banging together in mid-December, then off to Tepui's land (Chile, and also Peru) in Jan and Feb. Will be driving back home in March; so what the hey - California's hardly out of my way. Got a FJ47 ya wanna trade for the TR4???:cool::D

Twenty years ago, this was my project 63 TR4 ;)
