I notice a lot of people talking about tailgate rust. My FJ62 has some very tiny bubbles along the bottom edge of the window gasket. I'm wondering if that window needs to be removed and that rust treated before it gets to much worse. Is the rust ever under the gasket? If not, I wouldn't have to remove the rust. I'm gonna have it repainted, but I want to deal with this, especially if its possible to be under the gasket. I know the body shop won't do anything like that.

Getting all new upholstery this week.

FIX IT NOW! I didn't and it has crept all along the whole bottom. It will be under the gasket. Remove the window, fix ALL RUST. I didn't and am looking at buying a whole new tailgate.

The faster yo correct it, the less damage you will have to fix. They also rust bad at the bottom of the tailgate at the weep holes

How do you fix the rust on the lift gate around the glass and inside of the gate. Mine is bubbling up all over the place, But it is still solid. At least for now.

How do you fix the rust inside of the gate. It is bubbling up but still solid so far for now. The rust is inside were I can not reach with anything that I know of. My gate is solid for now but I don't know how to fix it. Any help is great

No sweat, man. Hope you don't mind that a few of us got a laugh out of it!! :D

To keep this tech; I'd best look into my own tailgate situation. My '60 had rust there bad, but so far my '62 looks good.
