I was driving tonight and my wife called and told me my rear tail lights were not working. Only the brake and blinker functions work and the running lights do not.

When I got back in the driveway I looked at the TAIL fuse in the engine bay and it was blown. After replacing it I turned the lights back on and it blew immediately.

I then checked the wiring harness for chafing in the tailgate and tail light area as well as underneath the vehicle but found nothing. I also checked around the rear hatch where the vanity lights are cause those were not working either.

It is an 06 LC with the LED tail lights and incandescent bulbs. All bulbs are intact. I am not sure of an easy way to check the LED function though. All of the wiring is factory as is the truck. It also has a factory 7 pin trailer harness. I have not tried unplugging that as I do not have any more fuses.

Can any of you smart guys shed any light on this mysterious issue?

Thanks!

I would buy more fuses ;)
Then disconnect the rear tail lights, and then connect them one at a time.
This way you can identify if it is the LED that causes the problem.

So I got some more fuses but after pulling all the towing fuses and disconnecting all the tail lights I still am getting blown fuses.

I also hooked up a trailer wire tester and the trailer running light indicator as well as blinkers worked fine on the tester.

Thoughts?

Also, when the parking lights are put to the on position are the front corner/ blinker lamps supposed to be on?

So after some troubleshooting I was able to determine that a bad lightbulb in the driver front corner lamp was the culprit. I guess it had some sort of short? Thanks for the quick replies!
