Im getting ready for my first big drive from SoCal to Tahoe.
Any advice or things to lookout for are welcome...

Thanks,

TAKE ME WITH YOU

Does your HAC work? Even so, you'll lose 10-20% power. (I know - I live @ 7,000').

Tahoe is huge. No shore or South shore? Or do you know? South shore has more casinos and traffic, but also has cheapo hotels on the CA side. No shore is more laid back with less traffic. My favorite hotel is the old Caesars on SO shore, bath tub in room for four runs 300+ a night and Hyatt N shore currently running 400+

There are hiking and biking trails, you can ride the Heavenly tram and pack a lunch. They serve drinks at the summit.

There is the back side of the Rubicon. Watch out for Jeep Jamboree traffic coming out.

Check the Web

I drove through there Sat night, it was 70 degrees and 95 in Placerville.

Have fun,

JB

Don't forget to try the Flume Trail for mountian biking. Go to the link, they have a shuttle to get you back.

If you don't need to go through Carson City up 50, then take Kingsbury grade up to the lake from Gardernville/Minden. Save you some time and distance.

i live close by and have ridden most of the trails. would be happy to give you beta or take you along. tons of good riding.
the A-list:
-rim trail from tahoe meadows to the flume 25+/- miles depending on shuttle
-Hole in the ground at donner summit 20 miles
-Mr toads wild ride. mileage varies
-Sly park/Flemming meadows 20 miles.
-Fall colors/Round lake loop
-rim trail Tahoe city to Mt. rose. fun and grueling
lots more.... stop in at a local bike shop. they have maps
PM me for more, and have fun

Vette I PM yah.

How is the snow conditions on any of those trails.
Last I heard they was 50% snow cover still.
Say it aint so....

Well. Im happy to say my FJ60 did very well with about 1000 pounds of weight. Had to slow down to 25mph on the way to Tahoe off of the 89 hwy. But other than that very good..... Average fuel milage was 13.7mpg but again with 4 riders 5 bikes and lots of gear Im not complaining..!!

Here is a pic of it. Not the best but you can see how the rear lowered with all the extra weight. Those are the Heavy springs from OME..
Mojave fuel up.webp
