Tacoma vs.Tundra as an FJ80 Replacement?

I have an '07 Tacoma Double Cab as a DD and my 80 is my off road truck. Tacoma is newer, more comfy, doesn't rattle as much. I have no plans to swap it for off road, but with the factory e-locker, adding on a 2.5", some 33s and maybe some sliders and skid plate would make it a decent off road truck. I love the solid axles on the 80 too damn much though;)

A newer crew cab Tundra will seat 5 more comfortably, but it is a big truck. both get better gas mileage than the 80, but lift it, throw bigger meats on there and load it up with armor and that hurts the mileage

There are a lot of off road accessories for the Tacoma and Tundra, poke around at the shops and see which will have the accessories you want.

There is no replacement for an 80...

Get a 22RE Hilux 4WD for a more fuel efficient runner... And keep the 80. Then you can reminisce about the days you thought you had power, but 10mpg, with the 80 series...

Then driving the weak, under powered, but trouble free truck around at 20mpg will put things slowly back into perspective and you'll go back to driving the 80... Then in a year or so, or when gas goes back up, you'll be perplexed by the whole thing again and ask the same question again...

God I love america.
