So I let my 2002 Tacoma (3.4) sit for a little while. Started it up to move it out of the shop, and it idled at 2000 even after warm up. Since I wasn't done building my bumpers I said f-it for a while and kinda forgot about it. Took it out yesterday and it would idle a 1500 even after driving around for about an hour. I've reset the computer, no previous CEL, and I really dont know what to do. Air filter was cleaned, Im thinking maybe the MAF? Throttle cable doesnt seem to be getting stuck. Any other ideas you guys might have? Engine has 180xxx on it.

I searched around last night on TTORA, and they seem to be leaning towards IAC valve. Ill let you know how that goes once I get off of work.

That's what I'm leaning towards as well. I'm working on my buddies truck, so I didn't get to spend much time on it, but i think I am going to disassemble the throttle body and take off the IAC motor and clean it.

Most likely the IAC has a piece of grit stuck in there. Could also be the return spring on the throttle cable getting sticky.

My IAC was acting up and upon disassembly found it dirty, once cleaned it was still around 1100 rpm. After using penetrating fluid and a soft bruch on the return spring the idle setttled out around 900 rpm. I have eliminated all the EVAp system, have no cat, and only one o2 sensor, so I cant be too picky.
