Bowyer, mine is red, but 100% stock, so not pic worthy yet. :D I have been trying to convince myself to put on a lift, bigger tires and sliders, but I want to wait to see what the gas prices will do. It still gets the job done for me right now, though. Love the truck. Skiing, camping, "light" wheeling, etc. - she has never let me down. Frame looks clean, too, which is relieving with all these Taco's going to the junk yard (even some 01+).

Hi

anyone have first hand experience with adding an aftermarket throttle body spacer or air intake system to a 04 toyota 3.4 tocoma? Do they make a difference in gas mileage, at least adding 5 mpg? Just wondering if its worth the cost?

jwlarsen - No! They are not worth the cost. TB spacer is a gimmick and the air intake system won't yield any power or MPG gains. Your best bet is to just keep a clean filter, regular tune-ups, maintenance, etc.

x2 on the spacer!
I even sold my K&N so I could go back to the OEM filter, which everyone raved about being superior to the K&N, and a lot less messy for sure!:D

Thanks for the feedback. I thought if it is worth a damn, then everyone would be talking about using them.

Had my first fillup today $60+...ouch...but I love the truck!!!

well today i did an oil change and changed the plugs. the truck has 80k and the old ones where gone. so ill post new numbers in a few days.

I average about 21 mpg but never seem to get below 20 around town and thats usually with a full load of tools and ladders. 31" BFG's 2.7L 5-Speed.

stock w/stepped shell.
1st tank: 19.5 combined some a/c
2nd Tank: 21.27 combined elevations ranging from 4500 ft to over 10,700 ft

Don't forget about keeping air in those tires too. I know it's a pain in the rear, but it does seam to give more MPG; along with better wear on the tires. IMO

2004 Double Cab, 265/75/16s tires, about 55K on engine, extra armor, sliders. Summer gas, I get about 16.5mpg in town, 18-19mpg on the highway. Winter gas, 14mpg in town, maybe 17mpg on the highway.

There are dozens of mixtures of gas around the country, it depends on where one lives as to the exact kind of mix one has. When I head to Colorado, my gas mileage jumps 3mpg easily.

My new 2003 V6 3.4 extended cab trd with 265 75 r16 got 21 on my first tank which was half highway half city.

I'm happy.:steer:

I am right in that window. I have a 1998 taco with a 2.7L, five spd. manual, running 33's so that might change some variables, but regardless, thats where I am at.

just traded my 2wd in for a 4wd but for the last few months i've been driving from Vegas to Sac area and it has been getting better and better miles as i go. just clicked 10k miles before the trade-in...was getting between 300-350mi per 18g fill up

ill keep you posted on the 4x4
