Does anyone know if the 1999 year Tacoma bumpers are compatible with the 2001 year bumpers? I know the grills were re-designed, but don't know if the bumpers have changed along with them.

The ARB's for both years are the same, which would lead me to believe they are compatible. Anyone have first hand experience?

The short, the bumpers are not compatible from what I've read. The frame horns are the same, but because of the difference in the front clip, they just don't work without modification.

Also, the ARBs may be listed as the same, but I thought the front crossmember/bumper was different requiring year specific bracketry. The TJMs are listed different (98-00) & (01-04) for that reason.

You could answer the question by just checking out the two. The stock bumpers come off extremely easy, and weigh nothing.

I did some internet-searching elsewhere, and found my answer. It sounds like the frame ends are the same, but the frame extends out further with the 1999's and 2000's than the 2001 and up. The ARB's are the same bumper for all the year ranges, but come with an adapter clip of some kind to extend out the 2001's and later.

Feel free to correct/add some more info here if any have first hand experience!

I have the ARB on my '01 Taco and it DID come with frame extensions. Everything bolted right on!
Hope this helps - BTW I have no experience with the earlier models & ARB.
