Taco Replacement Key

So, funny story.... I misplaced the only key I had for the Tacoma on Wednesday. Toyota wants $600 to replace the key and the fob and I have to get the truck towed to the dealership.

Anybody know if this can be done by an independent shop or a locksmith? The cost to get out of this mess seems completely ludicrous.

take your registration down to Fred Anderson Toyota Parts Department and tell them to cut you a new key based on the VIN. That will get you the key. Ping me for the next step at work. There is a little more work involved if you don't have a master key. Looking for a solution.
