In the cold weather (30’s F or below) my tachometer needle sticks at zero for 5-10 minutes after starting the truck, then works fine. Does anyone else have this issue or know what is causing it? 1985 BJ70, 3B JDM.

Where do they get their signal from? Thats where I would start.

I also have this issue on my kzj78. I just noticed it this winter. When it's cold, freezing or below it won't register for the first t minutes then very slowly springs to life. I also have a buzzing noise coming from my speedo and it jumps a bit until warm. I've replaced the speedo cable from the trans and I've used electrical contact cleaner and lube where it attaches to the dash. I'm thinking my dash might be dying... Let me k is if you find a solution!

I briefly had an '85 BJ73 with an intermittent tachometer; when it stopped I would smack the top of the dash or tap on the gauge panel and it would spring to life, indicating to me that the issue was either within the gauge cluster or in the connections at the back of it. Unfortunately I didn't get around to fixing it before I sold the rig.
