tachometer in hzj?

Hi, i have a hzj78 and i want to mount an aftermarket tachometer.
Can i take the signal from the alternator or how can it be done?

Have a look for a "Tinytach" Diesel tachometer - they work from a small transducer clamped on the injection lines. Dead easy to install (if you get the right transducer - unlike me doh!). Will pick up the correct sized one shortly. We have been trying it with shims with partial success. Cheap too.

Or you can modify your alternator and use that sort of tachometer. They are also cheap. VDO or "Swedish Biltema" have them.

Sound nice with the Turbo....

I have not done the Tacho myself yet but it will be done soon.

For calibration:

"Klebe oder male 4 weiße Striche auf die Schwungscheibe (12,3,6 + 9Uhr):Im Schein einer Glühbirne (220/230Volt 50hz Netzfrequenz) scheint das Kreuz bei 1500 Umin stillzustehen."
