Has anyone run this since the early March run? I'm going out next weekend with a Hyundai Santa Fe and Titan following me and I was wondering if the water is low enough for the Santa Fe to cross. We did it last March in our 2wd Sequoia coming from Seven Springs and there was very little water.

I'd imagine it would be fixed by now (?) But the road leading out of the first water crossing (where the burnt out Jeep carcas resides in the river bottom) was washed out pretty bad exposing several of the 36" inch pipes. It was bad enough to where one of the guys needed to be strapped out (The slippery mud didnt help either).

I hope those pipes and wash outs are negotiable in the Santa Fe. I guess we'll see what we come up against. My father-in-law is pretty cautious so he'll let me know if it gets to hairy for him.

Is the Santa Fe an all wheel drive?

Are you confusing Table Mesa Rd. with Bloody Basin Rd? Some of the climbs on Table Mesa in a 2wd would be a real challenge IMO.

Nope, not confused. We were geocaching out at Camp Creek/Seven Springs last year and decided to take FR41 home. The Sequoia was quite impressive with just 2wd. The only issue I had was I got hung up on a rock crossing New River and had to spend about 10 minutes digging and rocking to get out. Truck did great climbing the switchbacks after that.

Standing by for supervisory duty...

I was gonna say "mocking duty" before I realized I haven't a leg to stand on. :)

I did it two weeks ago... water level is not an issue, however, there are a few rock crossings that I wouldn't want to attempt in a Santa Fe.

So I decided to play it safe and 86 the ride over FR41. We changed our plans and tried to go check out Gillette instead. 4 vehicles - my 80, a Titan, a Disco and the Santa Fe. First try we went on the west side approach. When we came to the river, we all crossed but the sand after the crossing was too deep for the Santa Fe and Disco. So we had lunch while the kids played in the water. The Santa Fe did pretty well climbing out over the washed out road entering and exiting the river. Second try we tried the east side approach. All was well, easy well graded road until the river. It was about 18-20" deep and my father-in-law decided it was too deep and didn't want to try and cross. The rest of us did the crossing for some fun photos. We had a fun day, but were disappointed to be within a 1/2 mile or so from Gillette and have to turn around on both tries.

BTW, my father-in-law is looking for a 3rd gen 4Runner for better clearance so he doesn't trash the Hyundai. If anyone knows of one being sold locally, pass it along.
