Howdy! When I bought my 80 series, it came with a Warn M12000 loaded with nearly new synthetic line. It also had nylon? rollers for the guides instead of steel. Supposedly that is better for the synthetic line. Is there such a thing as a snatch block made specifically for synthetic line? I've moved a lot of junk over the years with come alongs, chain falls, hoists, and winches, but I'm new to the synthetic stuff. John

inkpot,
I don't have synth, but do know that there are snatchblocks specifically designed for use with it.

I do know there are a few blocks that could be used either way, but you really need to confine such use to synth line. Once you use it with cable, it will create enough mars and bites on the contact surface such that it will tend to snag and damage synth line. Someone else will have to give details of these and which will work with either, as I have no experience.

I run (3) 10' length abrasion rope covers on the M8000 on my '85 mini. When using a snatch block I pull one of the covers through the SB which protects the synthetic rope from any burrs/nicks on the SB.

There are certain snatch blocks that are better for use with synthetic ropes then others. Currently we are break testing a new block that we will market only for synthetic ropes, it will have a all new roller and construction that will make it work very will with all types of synthetics.

If your current blocks are smooth then they will be alright for use with synthetic ropes, any nicks or burrs can damage the rope though.

We, Bailey's Towing Accessories, Inc. are manufactoring a snatch block designed specifically for synthetic rope! Check out Bailey's Towing Accessories - Wake Forest, NC ; it can be found on the bottom of the first page and second page. It is also ALL USA MADE! Tell me what u think! The price is $64.99 plus shipping. It is a commercially manufactored snatch block that is used everyday in the towing world; so it will stand up and outlast most vehicles. btai,

Your products look nice, but you may want to look into getting a vendor's membership. It appears (at least to me) that your sole interest here is to promote Bailey Towing Accessories. That's fine, but I don't think you're allowed to do that unless you've purchased a red star.

IH8MUD Forum - Company Registration or pm Woody.

Registration of a company has never been a requirement on 'mud. If a vendor feels that their time spent here is beneficial, they are more than welcome to sign up for a red star (vendor status).

Ah, my mistake. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks for clarifying, Mace.

There are two big things you want to look out for - a roller that does not 'pinch' the synthetic rope either in the groove or between the roller and side plate, and a smooth surface on the roller where the synthetic line will come into contact.
