Try a stub axle spindle for a trailer. Get the correct "inner and outer" bearings and seal and fit the races into a piece of steel tubing. I have not actually done this yet, but I plan to. The 1750 pound rated spindles go for about 20 bux and then there would be the cost of the bearings and the stock steel for the bearing housing/swingout take off. The set up i am considering will use a 1 3/8" inner bearing and a 1 1/16" outer. I will source the bearings at Napa and use them to size my bearing housing stock. The spindle OA length is 8" so 4" in my bumper, and 4"above. For the amount of research, time, and labor involved, it may be worth the cost of the ready-made; my time is cheaper for me than convenience.:meh:

It's a great idea. I looked into it as well. For the time and money involved, just cheeper to buy the kit. You need to get the tubing mechined for the races and things just keep adding up. And beleve me your time can't be worth less than mine:D

The 4x4labs one looks great, but they want $148 to ship it here.

I think I am going to order one of these carrier mounts as it is only $48 to ship.

Thanks for the help.

Paul

That would be 48 dollars-British. I saw 57 American dollars. Still a great deal. Now I know I can't do it cheaper than that. Great find!

No, it is $48 for the shipping and $57 to buy, so a total of $105. I do not think I could get it made for that!!

For me to digress that I cannot make it on the cheap, it must be a smokin deal!
