I am considering gettng a USED set of sway-a-way coil over shocks & rebuilding them to replace my OEM Tokio (however it is spelled!) shocks, springs and spacer set up. They need to be replaced anyway (i think) since i now have 140K on my truck.

I don't know what a rebuild kit costs, how difficult the rebuild it and where to even get a kit for a rebuild!

any help, opinion, or experience would be appreciated!

Rebuild is far from difficult, but you do need a couple of specialized tools and a nitrogen tank.

I didn't realize a shock rebuild would warrent "hard core" :D

Oh well....BTW thanks again for the answer(s) to my question. Flatland - the link was great!

If I can get the shocks on the cheap, I'll rebuild them & post the results!

I got the c/o shocks and now I am doing my sourcing for parts using the link you provided and the included instructions.

The coating on the coils is coming off and I am considering having them sandblasted and powdercoated so they look better.

OR is there another type coating that I should look into that wear better on a spring? :hmm:
