I recently bought a 1999 Toyota Landcruiser Prado (RZJ95W) from Japan which I am importing to the States. I found an MPH and miles odometer OEM 99 Landcruiser instrument identical to the one on the Prado I brought. Both clusters are digital. Is there a possibility of swapping the clusters and doing whatever else is necessary to do this? ANy guidance is helpful.

Hmm, I've never heard of it being performed on any of the forums before but I don't see why they would make them incompatible for different markets 🤔 Maybe worth examining the wiring schematic for both and see if the connectors are the same etc? It's not that difficult to get the instrument cluster in/out so it's not a major job to just give it a try when the car arrives. My KZJ95 had 2 vertical screws holding the fascia in place and 2 (or 4?) horizontal screws holding the cluster to the frame behind the dash. You undo them, lower the steering column, pull the cluster forward a bit. Reach around and undo the plug connected to the back and turn the cluster around the top of the steering wheel as you remove it. The plug on the back as a...

The plug on the back as a locking arm thing that you pull up to release the plug. It would be interesting to know how you get on!

My hot tip for removing the cluster is buying a really long Phillips head screwdriver so you can reach it in through the steering wheel into the dash to undo the screws. It makes life so much easier! And theirs a couple of other uses for a really long flat head screwdriver around the car too you'll be thankful you have one. I've got a pair that around about 60cm long each. Also you need to adjust the height of the steering column as you remove the cluster.

Another idea to consider is buying an LED upgrade kit for the dash to modernize the look while you have it out (if you don't mind that look). .

Good luck mate 👍
