Hello!

Our 1HDT engine block is broken (oil pan and connecting rods too) caused probably by camshaft bearings seized).
As the 1HDT engine is very difficult to find now, would it be possible to install a HZ block instead with new crankshaft and connecting rods.
Parts numbers of the two blocks and crankshaft seem to correspond.
Somebody as already experienced this solution of swapping HZ block on a 1HDT engine?
Help really appreciated.

Replied to your other thread.

Yes the block and crank are the same.

1HZ block won't be drilled and tapped for the turbo oil feed, and the crank bearing lower cradle won't be drilled and tapped for turbo oil return line.

Conrad's, wrist pin and piston are different

Thanks for the info! Sorry but what are "Conrad's" ???

Seriously, is it a big job to bring oil to the turbo and the bearings. Is there some videos or tutorial avalaible according to you?
If you're able to re-use the crank bearing cradle from the 1hd-t, the oil return can go back to the same place.
But the bearing cradle and block would need to be machined as a pair while bolted together.

If you aren't re-using the bearing cradle. Then you need to drill the sump and fit a spigot for the oil return hose to go directly to the sump.

Oil feed for the turbo can be done by fitting a tee at the oil pressure sender (other side of the block), and running braided oil hose to the turbo.
