This was a fun day! Perfect weather, killer trail, and nice friends. Dang....I was really lucky. I knew everyone!

Being the trip leader sucked today. On the first obstacle I mangled my Lexus on a huge rock. That scared Alvin from trying (sorry buddy!) and I can understand why. I even dented the sheet metal!

Rod in his 100-series Cruiser and our Jeepers, Lonnie and Helen did great:

I promised wheel-lifts. Here's Alvin:

I promised steep grades:

I promised excitement though Alvin got more than he asked for on this very tough climb. He almost flopped. I stopped him then backed him on down and after several attempts he made it up safely. He was sweatin' it out but his daughter Zoe kept her cool.

Next up was Rod. He drove up before we could get a decent shot. Poo poo on you Rod! :gunt: I must say...Rod's driving and his 100-series made easy work of this difficult trail. My 80-series with 7" list had one thing going for it over Rod's 100......it was tippier! :(

Then it turns out that Lonnie didn't want Alvin to get all the attention so Lonnie pulled this manuever out of his seat in that same spot:

Trust me...Lonnie almost rolled that Jeep! Helen ran into the same troubles and she was smart :costumed-smiley-007 she took a strap. (Sorry Lonnie...I just had to drill ya!)

OK.....so we're on our way back down.....Alvin....Alvin....he got swallowed again by that huge washout. He couldn't back up so for safety's sake Rod winched him down with his 100.

After lining him back up, I spotted him down and Alvin took his instruction perfectly. (Now if I could have only done the same by that huge rock that bit me).

Rod straddled that hole perfectly. No surpises on his decent.

Coming down another hill. It's very steep and there's this one sharp turn. Go PS and all is well (Alvin). Go DS and all is wheel lift (Rod).

Then the ROCKY return to the trailhead:

And lastly....who would run that crack the opposite way?

NOT SHOTTS!
NOT ALVIN!
NOT ROD!

Lonnie and Helen put on a Jeeping Event showing us their RTI scores of 256985223. They made it look EZ!

Thanks again to everybody for coming out. It was a great trip for us as we won't be out for a bit due to Becky's foot surgery (BOO!). I still have Wlaking Sticks and Grasshoppers inside the Lexus. I gotta run now....need a new rear tail light. The Sutherland bit me!

Thanks John, that trail was a blast and 5 vehicles was a good amount to run it with. That friggin hole tested me both ways, but with your spotting and a cable from Rod it was all good. Lonnie's flex on the Jeep is awesome! It was a bit ruff and overgrown, but other than John's taillight, there was no damage or injury (cept maybe my pride).

where's this trail at? looks fun.

West side of the Santa Catalina Mountains. FH638

Lifted FJC's went through OK too. Same with LR Discoverys.

If the group is big and/or there's no lockers it can take a long time. 10-hours with the Rovers. 6-hours yesterday.

Who spotted Alvin into all those holes? :whoops::whoops:

He's a better driver than that. :flipoff2:

Actually.....despite me knowing your insinuation in the post (which is completely bogus) I thought I should defend Baggins driving.

A couple of these obstacles are vehicle eaters. They should not be taken lightly. My trip in with Land Rovers took 10-hours. Struggles were numerous. Here's some comments from attendees:

Alvin: This is technically the most difficult trail I've done.
Lonnie: This trail was even more difficult than last spring.
Helen: I want the strap.
Me: Not being careful, I wrecked my Lexus.
Rod: John, why do you always bring me into these crazy places.

I DO HAVE ONE BACK AT YOU ROB........

Rod's UZJ100 (a clone of mine) handled the Gap and this trail as easily as any 80 in the group. Hail to the 100! :bounce: It's the hottest Cruiser Series on the planet!

Oh, and one last post. :D

I've taken the extra time today on this thread to post this added information to encourage you-all to run this trail. You will luv it if you want a challenge. And again, Alvin did a great job!

Actually I spotted myself into those holes. It was a little tricky and hard to see. :o
John's spotting is what got me out.

I enjoyed driving my Lexus into that rock going both forward and reverse. :D

Dumb axx!

I looked at my truck again yesterday. Man, that's a dent! Looks like I'm stuck with this rig for a while. :ban:
