Hey Guys,

I am new to the site and I just bought my first LC which is a 2005 VX 100. I live in Kenya (just moved form Texas), and I'm looking to do some maintenance/up grade to the suspension. I am not looking to lift the rig but rather add better springs and shocks to carry heavy loads when I am overloading throughout the country. Right now I have a TJM front bull bar and a large TJM roof rack, and Im expecting to put a roof top tent, rear bull bar/spare tire rack, and gear on top of the rig. So any help picking out a more ridged suspension (shocks & springs) without a lift.

Thanks, from your LC owner from across the pond!

Shaun

Hi Shaun, There is alot of information regarding what you are looking to do on the forums that you can find by searching. To get you started in the right direction though, one thing you should understand is that with all the extra weight you will be adding to the vehicle with all the things you mention above, you will need a suspension lift. Once loaded the vehicle will be return to somewhat stock height levels. The lifts for our trucks aren't for show as you may be used to seeing, being from Texas. They are actually practical and necessary for exactly the application you are looking for.

Shaun do you have AHC or conventional suspension? Two different paths to follow depending on the answer.

Thanks Nezzar! Over the last few days I have found it hard to find gear to out fit my rig and a lot more expensive because everything is imported (duty tax).

Hey Shaun, welcome to MUD! AHC stands for automatic height control suspension. You will have a suspension dial right next to your shifter if your car is equipped with it.

I also recommend reading the FAQ it has a lot of good info: 100 series LC/LX FAQ and Featured Trucks
