Surprise Lake - July 2nd

The and I are heading up to see if we can make Surprise Lake for some mid week camping. If we can't, we'll be in the area.

I know the chances of people being able to camp for the night are slim, but I thought I would see if anyone was interested in making the run up with us for the day.

We'll be pushing out of Tacoma around lunch time and plan to hit the trail in the early afternoon. Barring any issues, we'd like to be set up well before dinner on the beach.

This is short notice, but will also serve as my way of telling people we're going. I'll post up my SPOT page if anyone is bored and wants to track us (especially if we're solo) and will have a few of you on my emergency call button just in case.

The lake was about as high as I've ever seen it.

It was kind of scary cuz I was by myself. I was just thinking I was going to break down and I had to walk down to the ranger station to call for help. Thank God he was watching me and my phone was still there

I've been broke down up there before and have had to make the walk well past that ranger station, in the dark. It's no fun at all. Glad it all worked out.

Oh come now gents, put on your big boy pants! There is absolutely nothing to fear after sundown about traipsing into the yard of the fine gentleman who has a misspelled, hand painted sign by the road advertising the sale of half-wolf pups.... no joke.

His place was one of those off the grid setups and he had a 20 foot flag a-la "don't tread on me" flying over the front yard. Located not too far after the one lane bridge on the right.

I didn't stop.
