I would check the battery cables and terminals and make sure there aren't any breaks or loose connections. Do 3FE's have fusible links like the 1FZE's? Check 'em along w/ associated fuses. Charge up the battery, start her up and get a voltmeter to see if the alternator is putting out 14+ volts. If not, then the alternator's brushes might need replacing which is cheap and easy to replace.

Where you live Dain? If you need a hand I can come help check it out tonight or some other evening.

Will pm you my phone #

It first happened out on the trail, alt is good, cables are due for replacing brand new batt since trail run.
Something is grounding out or not turning off, also it happened before being submerged in the lake so we can rule that out.

Sorry guys, I was so stressed out I'm at Rainforest Cafe and eating with my family in Renton. Joe I live in Graham.

Nice Joe, nothing like giving you mom a little treat when visiting :D

Dain,
Maybe I missed it in the thread, but did you hook any new electrical components up recently? ( short in a wire/bad ground from install ). Is there a "whining" sound of some sorts when the rpm's increase? I would check what has been stated and also dig into that alternator. The diodes could be or have failed. Hooking up a new battery will deplete the cells and not get a return charge.

My wifes TSX had a whine sound and I thought it was the power steering pump; the alternator failed in 20 minutes. I could smell a burnt metal from the alternator, only to determine later that the diode(s) completely failed and I ran out of battery juice. No warning from dash lights for these types of failures; maybe a dash christmas light show only to see the "D" light is the only one out :p. Just Kidding, I hope it's not a deep issue and you get it resolved. You could do a simple test with an ohm meter and check all the atlernator components if you do address the alternator brushes. HTH

Oh yea, the trip looked epic! I'm sure fording water that deep I would have dug into my axle(s)/diff(s) PM's; my diff breathers are not extended :frown: Hopefully I get settled in and join in more of these trips. :)

Pretty sure is alt is good, plus he had installed the battery barely even drove it and it died over night. Dain you want to schedule a evening a couple of us can come over and bang it out? Or just let me know I can swing by sometime and see what we can find.

MIKE! did you cry? I shed a tear for the old girl yesterday we are all sad but where the hell are those pictures!
Pour a little out for the troopy :beer::beer:

Yeah that be greatly appreciated we can set something up. As for my schedule I'm always open
