this is a very educating expirience for me. i never considered all of the options and issues involved with a swap of this nature. It's great reading all of the feedback on this, I've made up my mind that I need something of greater displacment. whats this 4.5 turbo that you all have mentioned? if it comes down to it I just want to pul a motor out of a 1993 or newer Cruiser and drop it in. Maybe even a V8 out of an even newer one

Dirty,

The aluminum block 5.3 only comes in a SSR truck and trailblazer ext/envoy

Ktm,
a 4.5 Turbo would be a 92-97 1fz 80 series engine with a aftermarket turbo, check out slee off road/man-a-fre for details.

-86 Toyota turbo truck (180 whp from 2.4L)
-05 Mitsubishi Evolution (300 whp from 2.0L)

forced induction & displacement is indispensible -4.7L Twin turbo & supercharged quad-cam V8. :)

i think i'm gonna have to change my underwear now after looking at that. I want it, how can I do it?? See here's the thing, i work at Avenger Superchargers ( :flipoff2: the Jeep guys), I know i'm not proud...but the bossman doesn't want to help me build my own kit for Toyotas ( i'll be too much competition).Thats why I was thinking Supra swap. But now he's willing to sell me a Supercharger compressor to work with, and I want to develop kits for the 4cyl, V6,Inline 6, and V8 applications and try to make them more affordable. My only thing is that I don't have any idea how to go about it, and thats where this is planning on going. Any ideas are welcome and any feedback will be greatly appreciated (positive or negative).

Wow that turbo is big.. i bet its got a bad case of turbo lag too.. i like the idea of superchargers rather than turbos for a wheeling rig.. i dont have any experience but Shoot me a PM if ya want to brain storm or need some help bolting up a Charger.. Id just build some Brackets and run some tube, see what it dose, then maybe look into some sort of engine managment if needed.

\no doubt he's got some lag, but it was an example of what the bottom ends can take :D

turbo tech now days can eliminate lag for most sane sytems, without the parasitic loss of superchargers.
