I recently replaced my front pads, rotors and shims using ALL oem parts. Now, I have horrible (makes me want to ram the truck into a wall) brake squeal. After 500 miles of the most annoying, obnoxious noise, I took the OE pads off and replaced with Akibono. Still noisy after another 500 miles. Checked rear brakes, sanded all 4 pads and applied BG stop-squeal. Still noisy. Even bit-the-bullet and took it to Toyota, had the master tech look at the brakes and he says "all normal".

Anything else I can do? It's literally driving me up-the-wall. I'm dying a slow death. It's embarrassing. Any suggestions?

it sound like your hardware is dry and need some lube. lube in between the pad and the shim. contact point of brake shoe the pin and the spring.

X2 what @Lowbudgetlc100 said. I get the same issue with my 1998. Brakes are in good shape but the lubrication wears off between the pad and the shim and causes squealing. I'll check the brakes and add lubrication about every tire rotation.

can somebody tell in details what exactly to lube, do i need te remove the pads and lube between pad and shim and what kind of lube?

i have same squeak but not that bad. would be great to fix it.

What lube do you use for this? I get squealing after going off road and its been loud for a few weeks. I need to resolve it.

Usually on the spinny roundy thingy on the counter by the register at auto zone and other parts stores. Coat the metal side of the pad wherever the caliper contacts it.

i usually use. normally in between the pad and the shim. where the pad sits on the carrier. light lube on the shaft that hole the pads on the carrier.
Permatex Ceramic Extreme Brake Parts Lubricant

You mention replacing pins, shims etc but did you also reuse or replace the Spring Anti-rattle clip - 47748-60061? It's the thin metal wire that clips onto either side of caliper and keeps pads off the rotor when not pressing the brakes.

Also, the OEM shims have a rubber coating so I've found brake lube isn't needed. But I have used it extensively in the past, especially with all metal shims. Helps quite a bit.

When I pulled my front calipers I found PO was running pads only, no spring clips, no shims, no nothing. WTF!!

Are you sure your return spring is installed correctly (not backwards?). On, uh, "a friend's" truck, uh, that happened, and the middle bend of the spring squealed by rubbing the inside of the wheel... Hopefully that's not your problem...

I didn't replace the pins. Could these be causing the noise? They float in the caliper just fine, I took them out, sanded and cleaned them.

Did you properly break in the pads? Break in is crucial with new rotors and pads. Adding a bit of lube between the shims also helps if you forgot to do it. Did the Master tech test drive the vehicle with you? I hope you didn't pay full price to have someone tell you it's normal.

Dealership didn't charge me a dime, they were cool.

I did lube between shims and broke-in both sets of pads (eom and akibono). Did over 500 miles on each. I'm sick of taking brakes apart at this point.

I don't think pins will cause any chatter. I did same as you, sanded and cleaned them and installed when doing brake job. I did follow up a couple weeks later with new pins just because.

Can you post a picture of your caliper and how the pads are loaded into the caliper? Try to show how you have the spring clips in place.
