I love my sunroof.

I'm not a tall man, so the idea of storing glasses, maps, insurance cards, etc up there sounds really cool.

Not really the body shop did all the work. Cut and profile the panel, weld in, skim some bondo and paint.

99% of Aus 80's had no sunroof but shipping one.....

We deleted the sunroof on the UTE project. 14gauge steel. really easier than I thought it would be. almost straight. For the headliner, we took extra headliner material and placed it above the open sunroof hole, then took some of the brown door edge material (open your door and look at the top half covering the seam metal and trim) to finish it off.

Really does not look that bad, for a free fix. I had found a thread were someone had covered their headliner with other fabric/material, and was planning to do that; however, this turned out fine (is quiet) and really how often do you look up?

Any time you start welding on your reg is a place for Rust to start. Personally I enjoy my sun roof it dose not leak or rattle

I plan on using Automotive panel bonding adhesive then blend it in with filler and then Monstaliner. No welding no rust I guess.

Any of you guys weigh your sunroof after you took it out? I just noticed my windshield frame rust is getting out of hand, so I may have a $$$ trip to the body shop in my future. Might throw the sunroof delete in an effort to "bundle" :o

I believe I read somewhere around 80 lbs.

I just installed a new sunroof panel this past weekend and the total weight for the glass and the metal frame and weatherstrip including the box it came in was 21 pounds. Not sure how heavy the rest of the apparatus is, but 60 more pounds seems like a lot.
