Need some good tips, if any, on deep cleaning the headliner!?

Two things I hate....cracked dashes and filthy headliners; dash is good, HL not so much.

Get some Tuff Stuff Cleaner. You will be amazed, be prepared to clean for a couple hours though! It really brings out the dirt!!

Just cleaned mine this weekend with Folex carpet cleaner from Home Depot. Worked perfectly, looks like new. My Home Depot stocked two formats: a one gallon liquid and a ~1 quart spray. I bought the spray bottle and it gave me enough to do the entire headliner and all the column covers, sun visors, etc.

I did not take a before of the headliner, but it was similarly dirty to the column covers, where I do have before and afters.

On the early hanging head liners I use non scented baby wipes.

If really dirty, and you have removed it, then you can recover it quite easily. TreeRoot did a beautiful job on his.

How is the Folex used, just spray on, wipe off?

You can spray on the Folex and blot it off with a cloth. This works well.

Since I had my headliner out so saturated the entire thing with Folex then hosed it off

Hosing it off didn't mess up the liner?
Mine is out right now as well, cleaning it was on my agenda.

I've noticed how the '95 headliner is different than the earlier hanging type. Seems like it would take well to some lite scrubbing or saturation.

Is it difficult to remove all the pieces??

jwilliams: Mine withstood the hose with no problem. Just be careful not to pick it up until it is reasonably dry -- it will be noticeably heavier when waterlogged and could easily break if not handled with care. 60 minutes in the Arizona sun and it was ready to install

jeeperatt1: Not too difficult to remove the pieces. I removed all in the interior trim, as you can see in the pictures, and that makes for a lot of unbolting.

Two things I found can be difficult: (1) removing the pieces that the seat belts route through at shoulder level. FSM shows how to do it, but the first one was tricky to get out. (2) I broke a number of the plastic fasteners that attach the headliner to the roof. There are seven of these in total. The three at the rear are larger diameter compared to the two in the middle and the two over the PS front seat, which are the same size.

Another option is peel the cloth off the fiber board and replace it with marine vinyl. Do not use spray contact cement unless it's commercial grade... I use a commercial base board contact cement. Marine vinyl cost me about $60-$70 bucks. Wipes clean.

Um, that's awesome! How difficult was the actual fitting??

Where did you purchase and what did you do about the sun visors?

Here's the info on the glue... You'll notice it says flammable.... glue that flammable has a higher bound quality

Looks like it would be difficult cutting and fitting the holes etc.

Not hard at all... for corners I use a heat gun and the vinyl gets soft and it's easy to stretch around corners and holes..

I bought some Folex last night. I will try using it this weekend on the headliner and the side trim pieces.

Would this be a good product to use on the floor carpet?
There are a couple spots I want to try before I actually have to pull the carpet out and use the pressure washer.

Folex is the stuff! I used it on my 91's headliner and visors and it looks brand new. Just spray it on, scrub it around lightly and blot it off with a damp cloth. Works great. You won't regret it.
