Good morning ladies and germs,

I was wondering if anyone had some photographs of them clearing out their sunroof drains with headliner removal. It seems like there used to be a step by step guide over on the 80 series thread, but the photo hosting site has gone away. I did the trimmer cord method, which was pretty helpful, my A pillars are dry, but I still have a little floorboard drip in heavy, heavy rains. Anyone out there with pics on the hundo?

Thanks

I haven't pulled the headliner, but I have measured how much water I poured in and measured how much I caught.

I can't comment from personal experience because this was done by the PO on my car, but I've read some threads about using weed-whacker line to clear it out, as well as a shop vac to suck it out from underneath the car.

Weed whack line is not strong enough. It bends as soon as you stick in the hole.

The only way to clear a pinched drain is to remove the "A" pillar covers and maybe the headliner.

If you are just wanting to clear a slow drain use have a 20oz bottle of Coke, then rinse with clean water after you let the Coke soak for 10min or so.

If you have a clog, you need to use compressed air making sure you get the air nozzle past the connector where the drain line attaches to the sunroof frame. So about 3" inside the hole, I used a extending air nozzle, the kind you use to clean your work bench and blow out air filters and such. Then I rinsed with water.
