I'm looking for advise on adjusting the glass. BTW, 1 new cable, 1 used but totally functional cable from the junkyard, new cable guide (turned out I could have reused the old, but oh well), and new outer seal on the glass.

I functions completely now, but when it stops it is about 1/8" short of being flush. I can push it to get it level. When I tilt it and then tilt it back down, it doesn't go down all the way (seams the seal is hanging a bit). Again I can nudge it down from outside or start the slide and the put it away that way. I do have the glass adjust all the way up on the rails.

I futzed quite a bit with the cable adjustment from the open position as mentioned above, but it really didn't seem to have an affect.

I also tried to set it up from the beginning with the FSM method. Setting the marks on the cable guides was a piece of cake, but on my motor the gears were covered by a circuit board. I removed the motor to try to adjust the gear/mark per the FSM, but there were at least 3 things that looked like they could be the mark, and the one I chose was not it, so that was a bust.

As I was finding this thread for another member, I saw I never closed the loop on this. I found my problem with not closing flush - mechanic error...

As I stated I reused a cable, but I had disassembled it to clean and lube it. I failed to replace a bushing inside the guide, resulting in sloppiness of that cable and failure to finish flush. Once I figured that out (and something I could fix on the truck, thank God), all is well.

I just went through the whole take it apart, new cables, put it back, and say things you shouldn’t in good company. I struggled trying to make it work, as it had never worked since I bought it and had actually been siliconed shut (it still leaked).

For folks completely unfamiliar with the land cruiser sunroof, 2 7/8” is perfect, as long as you are measuring from the back of the opening to the front of the glass weatherstrip. 🤯😞

That’s an hour of my life I’ll never get back. But the thrill of seeing it work was pretty worth it. It will be well used out on the trail.
Bisho, can you take a pic of where the measure on should measure the front of the glass weatherstrip and the back of the opening. My sliding roof only tilts up and down and does so with a struggling sound. If you can that would be great

Sorry it’s taken all week. I haven’t been feeling well and kept forgetting.

Also, when you drop the motor you should be able to easily move the glass by hand. If not, you cables are corroding or have gunk in them.
