Here's a few pics from Sunday. Went out for a little drive with two of my kids mostly just to get out of the house and let my 13yr old drive some mellow dirt roads. It must be my uncanny ability to get into trouble. The trusty steed made it through though. My son was mad I took over driving duties.

Cool!:beer::beer:

Like the camo.... Is that a rattle can job, or spray gun? I wanna do the same...

Nice looking rig. X2 on the camo job.:cheers:

Looks great!! After every camo truck I see, the more I want to do it to my rig....

Do it yourself?

Looks like fun!

Your rims, what offset are they and what size tires are you running?
Looks great!

Thanks for all the complements on the paint. It doesn't look so good up close. You can see all my screw-ups . I did what body work I could (first timer). I bought this rig with a salvaged title because the insurance company thought it wasn't worth fixing. I was able to get it cheap and wouldn't feel guilty if I mashed the body. Mechanically its fine. Somebody before me put about 100lbs of bondo on it and it was cracking away and starting to rust underneath. So I wanted to keep the rust in check. That was my first priority. Then I made a "paint booth" in the garage out of painters plastic. I have a cheap Home Depot paint gun that came with the compressor. The guys at the local body and paint supply helped with the mix ratios. I primed then painted it all OD then added the other colors. The cool thing about camo is you can make it anyway you want. I just "winged it" I didn't use a pattern or mask off the colors because I wanted soft transition lines. I've never used a spray gun before so I had some trouble with runs despite being careful. All in all it was a fun project! Most of all I had to keep telling myself that "its a trail rig" " its a trail rig" so I wouldn't get too upset when it didn't all turn out perfect. The wheel I got from my friends brothers friend who ran them on his strait axle converted mini truck. I'm not sure what the backspacing is on them. The tires are a source of debate and anguish. They look cool (my lame) and have a great warranty but I've already peeled a knob off and one leaks air when placed against a rock like in the picture, but is fine the rest of the time. Oh yea they are Big- HOs xt. I'm sure there is a better tire that won't cost a fortune, If anyone has any ideas? I probably should have gone with BFG M/Ts but there's always next time.

If there is an easy way of measuring backspacing I could measure them for you.

I just moved to UT and am looking for some trails that aren't still covered in snow. Where did you go? How far was it from Sandy?
Not too far, about 45mins SW of Sandy. The trail is called Rattlesnake Canyon. I've always taken the main road in and this time saw this road. Now I know what all the hype was about :D Where about do you live ? I could give you directions. I usually have my brother the GPS operator with me so I would have coordinates.

Max, you might have to change your sig line to; 4 hours to Moab.

yes, go from where the inside tire bead sits to the wheel mounting surface.

not really the correct way but it's close enough

Would this work if the tire is still on the rim? If I got a short enough straight edge to fit would if be close?

We're in happy valley, Provo. Sorry not to reply sooner, we're closing on a house tomorrow so it's been nuts. After 7 years in a 17-story high-rise in DC the cruiser is going to be very happy to finally have a garage!
