I definitely missed a good day of wheeling on Sunday. It's probably good I didn't go. My very best buddy Chaco is having late year issues and I need to be near him.. I may be out the rest of the week too..

Yep, they used tin cans in the walls, reduced the amount of concrete need and probably made some insulation?

The bed, view out back and the dog's grave. It says Feb 1928, July 1938 and a miner's faithful dog.

Those "finds" outdoors always fascinate me.
Its great that he dated the dog's grave to get an idea of the time. Probably his best and only "right hand man" back then.

Thanks for the photos - like the cans in the walls, like you said the expense and hassle of carting in cement would give good reason to fill in the holes with them.

Looked like the wall were made by molding, troweling the concrete in place. The cans were placed and mud put around them, making something like blocks?
